it was indeed 1975...the director said Sean Connery was grumpy and dour but loved his performance..Candice was more concerned if she looked
good!! meeow!! still all good in the end! ..a cracker of a film

Patrice its got the lot with the involment of so many of the super powers
of the time

Cdr..............Carl your quite right when i do the hussars for the maximillian period they would suit this conflict!!

One game I like to play while watching the romance sub-plot develop is imagining they are the actual historical characters rather than the two Hollywood idols. You get a completely different film...

The tale of a burgeoning love across cultural and political boundaries...

Raisuli (Sean Connery)                       Perdicaris (Candice Bergen)

...of two portly and heavily-bearded middle-aged men.  lol

The Wind and the Lion
My favourite film, since many many years!

Yes it is needed to be covered with special miniatures.
But the Raisuli is superb!

So, we need some more miniatures Mrs Pedecaris (Candice Bergen), the children, the US marines, the Guards ....
Please make them available!!!!

And my the way
ladies and gentlemen
May I remind you the very nice game "the wind and the lion" by Warflag!

The game on Warflag is great.
A number of years ago I was able to play Ian's
"The Wind and the Lion."
Great fun, loved it.
All of his games with the Red Shadow were super.

Now if you can sculpt the marines in dress uniform, for the Tangiers attack on the palace,oh yeah and maybe a navy band. Great  sculpt.

Then you'll have a choice… sculpt miniatures according to the film, or closer to historical types?  :D

Some times ago I posted some info about Moroccan troops of Casablanca:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=53332.msg628832#msg628832

I'm not sure about cavalry uniforms, perhaps they were like those in the film. Infantry uniform is simple enough but interesting.

In my opinion, for this period and context we also need miniatures of local civilians (I found lots of pics!), and of French armed sailors (not only Marines). Casablanca was stormed by only 60 sailors in 1907! (and it was not a wise move but that's another point).

Patrice

i will probably do both as it will give a wider variety of figures to game
with and players can then play as TWITL or factual...both appeal to
me as well.

french armed sailors look interesting any pics on these?
and mustnt forget the Spanish.............

To say this figure is brilliant goes without saying - as ALL Gringo figures are great.  but this one really hits the mark. I've never even heard of the film, but I knew who the figure was just by looking.

Following on from former user, I must say that I can hear a Scottish accent just by looking at the figure.

Brilliant as ever Ged

Best wishes   DaveL

I just found this! (I can't post the pic as it is not free of rights). Spanish troops in Casablanca, 1907. There are other pics if you look around the website:
