Getting back in the swing of things ... a goblin
« on: July 08, 2013, 03:32:07 PM »
I've been slowly working on getting my act together painting-wise, so I can finally start doing something about scaling the nearby hills of the old lead mountain range. My old techniques were just too time consuming, so I needed to develop something that still made me happy to look at, but only took a couple of hours per figure compared to the five plus I used to spend.

This guy took about three hours, but included a fair bit of time mixing as I only use a five to eight colour palette and that will drop when I start doing bulk production line stuff and end up with a bunch of pre-mixed colours.

Cheers!

I think you can be very pleased with the result! Out of interest what are the colours you use?

Thanks, I use Chromacolour Artists acrylics: Chroma Red, Chroma Blue, Chroma Yellow, Titanium White and Burnt Umber. If I use any more it's the secondary colours Chroma Green, Chroma Orange and Chroma Violet, these and the three primary colours form a balanced set around the colour wheel.

I have a bunch of Vallejo style dropper bottles and as I run across colours I use with any regularity like flesh tones etc, I intend to mix up a bottles worth to hopefully speed things up.

Cheers!
