Saladin's retinue - Eureka 28mm
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:50:13 AM »
I received some of the new "Saladin's retinue" figures form Eureka, and frankly I am stumped by what they represent. The Crusader opposition are really my weak point, and if someone could identify what they represent, I'd be very pleased. I can't even tell which one is the man himself. Bonus points to anyone that can say which should go in the same formations, as I have a feeling I will be buying a few more :)

I thought they were part of the generic Dark Ages, Saga friendly range Eureka has been popping out in recent times. They are probably usable anywhere from the Arab Conquest through to the late middle ages. I bought some of the unarmored versions to use as Magrheb opposition for my late 16th C British army. I think they look the business for Tangier.

I am lucky enough to have been able to see this in the flesh recently and they are excellent. Saladin is the bloke on the right underneath the umnbrella in the first pic and his mounted variation is on the far the right in the fourth pic. I am very excited by the fact that a few of the spearmen would make great Byzantines as noone really makes decent Greeks for the crusades. As for units, all the heavy cav could be put together as they all would of carried bows. And the unarmored spearmen would make great militia types with the better equiped blokes being your guard units I guess...

And being Eureka, I imagine they will fit in very well with the Perry Crusades range.
