Perious Island...the search for Lord Goat
« on: July 15, 2013, 08:40:51 AM »
Greetings fellow Explorers/Adventurers and neferious villains....quite a few of us at the Sheffield and Rotherham Wargamers (GIMPS)) had a bit of a Jungle adventure last night....2 teams of the THULE society and 1 team from the explorers club went in to the wilds to find lady Goat who seems to have gone off to perilous Island in search of her very barmey father Lord Goat ....each team had a leader a sidekick and an Ally...they where up against Magumbo's, Dino's, Raptors and land crabs....they had to build bridges and navigate swamps to try to find a route through the giant stockade to get in to the heart of Perilous Island.

The game went well with lots of potential for some very exciting multiplayer games. We used spawn points to generate wild life and random events....I gave them quite a few clues that it could benefit them to use a bit of stealth....but from the offset they thought it was a wild life safari hunt  .....this nodoubt attracted a very large Dino who broke through the stockade and put the willies up the explorers :D

A good nights gaming  ...all of a sudden everybody is thinking up further adventures in the Arctic, Tibet and Cthulhu type encounters....Pulp Alley certainly fits the bill and now with the Perilous Island addition it makes for a terrific game!

Lord Goat

ps I would have took more pics but I was too involved with the game and the excitement :D

Love the look of your terrain (especially the primitive walkways).
I also like the use of the skull tokens - I assume, identifying Perils and Extreme Perils.

Looks really good.  :-*

How did you manage the bridge-building?  Did they have to collect resources, or were they already there & they just spent time building?

Hi ....for the bridge building...it was just one section missing and needed repairing...we just used a random challenge....thats the beauty of Pulp Alley, the cards allow you to come up with many interesting and varied ideas.....

cheers

Love the two widths on steps on the ruins. A great combination of function and appearance. Will definitely keep that technique in mind when I get around to building some ruins, temples etc.

AAHHH!!! Pygmies!

Looks like a great time. Dave and I had intended to add some harrowing Cthulhu sanity rules as an addition to the Perilous Island rules, but page count got in the way. That's what I've love about Pulp Alley since seeing the first draft, it can be used for just about anything with little or no modification.

That's a great set-up you have there, quite envious.

The pygmies are playing quite an important part in the campaign we are doing ....I did tell the players to go nice and easy and basically explore the island.... one of the players went down the river on his raft got off and spotted a Magumbo just watching them....so what did he do?....you've guessed it....he shot the little fellow ::)

as per usual give a man a gun and he'll use it!...this awakened the denizens of the island who came along to see who was making the noise.

The Magumbo's are a very unique miniature that I spotted on the Tor gaming website.

very unusual miniatures that will really enhance a Pulp miniatures game....every game that I have used them as seen quite a few people pick them up and say they want some of these little lads :)

Very nice report! Love the scenery and figures.
