The station house and barracks have been done for years  :-I
I'll include some pics. I tend to make terrain first, then paint the figures.
Of course you've already done the terrain ;) For a moment I thought that I replied to an average wargamer, not the Miniature Machine :D
Do look forward to the pics, and how this thread evolves :)

I'm not sure why so many people are interested in a bunch of figures painted khaki :)

First squad of ten finished, plus a sentry. Here they are at inspection. The Europeans were painted 'Pre-LPL' many years ago and aren't up to my current standards, especially the flesh tones.

I also painted up a sentry and touched up an older one so he matched.

I had a pleasant surprise went I went through my stored figures, and discovered I already have twenty British askari painted  :?
They have red fezzes for some inexplicable reason and I'll need to redo those.

I took about thirty WIP pictures of my painting process, which I'll post here when I get a chance to organize them. Here's a close up shot of some of the finished product:

I made all the buildings about ten years ago, the station house really needs some work. It's very plain looking right now. Made from a plastic sheet for the base, dowels, and matboard. The thatch is made from drywall spackle applied thinly and raked through with a plastic bristled whisk broom. A little airbrush on this will do wonders I think. It really is out-of-place with the rest of my stuff.

Barracks, storehouse, covered platform. The barracks are foamcore and dowels, and the split reed walls are a textured wallpaper. The metal roofing is corrugated paper found at a craft store. The boards are done with a watercolor pencil, so are not dimensional. I'd do them differently now, I'd likely use balsa or basswood.

Next up will be the step-by-step of an askari, and off to the next squad. I think I'll do 40-50 in khaki (ten done so far, twenty previously painted need need new fezzes), and maybe 1 or 2 squads in a blue jersey. Sikhs will be painted at some point as well. On the 'perhaps' list are some Nkonde spearmen, some tribal auxiliaries with muskets, and some Ngoni. The war with the slavers in Nyasaland had some crazy stuff going on!!!

Very nice. If the British officer shown with the two sentries is some of your earlier work then I don't think you have any worries about the flesh tones not being upto scratch.
