I agree that the new board looks great, and I can't wait to explore the new features.

But I also concur that the new "New Posts" symbol isn't easily distinguishable from the "No New Posts" symbol. Especially to these rapidly aging eyes.

child board isn't my term, that's a system feature of the software, every SimpleMachines board of this world has child boards, so Feds have a lot of work. As far as I know it's even a common term and other public board software manufacturer are using it too.

My bad.  I'm glad the public board software industry is keeping our Federal Government on its toes.   :)

- that means New Posts

- that no New Posts

Errr... I can't see a bit of difference between the two graphics, really I can't...

Firefox on Linux, if that makes a difference...

Quite a radical change!

Overall, I really like it, but it will take a bit of getting used to.

The only thing I really miss, though, is the Alan Quatermain figure, but that's hardly a major problem  :)

Well done, Alex, you've done a great job!

Spanky new adventure goodness! Really like the new layout, and the new features seem very cool so far.

Nice one Prof!

I love the new header. It's a great montage. I prefer it to old Water-main, personally.

Everything else is dizzying and confusing. But I don't hate it, just haven't quite got used to it yet. As others have said, the "New Posts" and "No New Posts" signs by each board look identical on my computer (using Firefox). That's the only thing I can see that really needs fixing. The old LAF orange ones were very handy to send you straight to new posts on each board.

Just noticed something else. When I submit a post, I get kicked up a level into the list of posts instead of being shown the topic with my new post added. Is that supposed to happen? It's a little annoying.

Prof, overall - like it. Sure we will all get used to it, and it may take a few days or weeks to iron out a few of the little wrinkles...

The only thing I am having trouble with so far is reading the black text against the darker khaki colour background  :?

Sorry - maybe I've just painted too many minis and the old eyes are starting to give out, but the previous colour scheme was highly legible - and this one seems less so, which doesn't seem to be an improvement...  :(

Did you consider other background colour combinations?

I really enjoy the new features and I appreciate the Profs work, but the new layout (especially all the darker greens) is not my cup of tea. I like the new banner but I am missing a reference to the one thing which ties all this topics together - the lead miniature.

actually not but if it would turn out as difficult to read so of course I will consider some changes on the darker topic background

I know and I did think twice (or more) about making a banner containing pics of minis. That's really a key question. Than I thought I dont have to show to all the people what we're playing with but I would like to to show the spirit of our forum. And so I did that banner. Just my way. We have many forums out there with banner full of painted minis. This forum is different, this one is something special. At least I hope it  :)

Thank you Alex, I appreciate that.

It may just be me of course, or it may be that I'm accessing the site from an older monitor at the moment. But whatever the circumstances, black against a darkish green is probably not ideal for legibility. Sorry to cause a fuss.  :-[
