I like the updated look, although it changes the 'feel' a lot. Less personality somehow.

I hope it works better than the earlier version, if only for the unlucky board members who have to see it started up :)

Also... did I miss an announcement about a forthcoming movie?
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Like Daleks they just level the whole building.

The products page has a design that could be the new Robocop or just an android. I'm keeping an open mind for the movie. Can't be any worse than the Rollerball remake. Nothing can be worse than that.

Ah, wondered if it were for a new film.

I'm assuming that this page is the only info so far?

There's also some pictures that are terrifying the fans of the original one:

Everyone started complaining about the suit not being in metal, about the "Robobike", etc. I don't mind the redesign, there's space for 2 versions of Robocop. And after all, it can't be worse than Robocop 3, right?

Probably not, I think you're fairly safe saying that :)

It does ever so slightly annoy me when people start to moan about re-makes 'not being the same as the original'. That's the idea isn't it, a director or film company come along and want to re-make the film, not copy it  :?

Anyway, I'll probably watch it. I liked the original but I won't compare the two and bitch about it  lol

And your certainly right about Robocop 3  lol

cheers

OK like the Ed-209
As for Robo's new armor i dont mind it but a few things. Don't mind the slenderer suit. I can say dont like the bare right hand. And if anything i dont like the top of the helmet. Should be a metal helm is all. Doesn't seem very protective. But other than that, nope not like the original and as has been said, it isn't supposed to be.

Take Judge Dredd/Dredd for example. I never liked the look of the original Lawgiver. Liked it much better in Stallone's version. The newer Urban version looks good as well. I however like Urban's armor version better over Stallone's. Remakes, not the same. Some times better and some times not.

Hoo-boy! First time I hear about a new movie in the works. I've checked the roster, and they've got Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson in major roles (albeit Michael Keaton as the villain, all bets are off how that will turn out). I don't really mind the re-designed equipment - ED-209 looks rather modern, but not as iconic and timelessly-futuristic as the original, IMHO.

Regarding Robocop himself, I wonder if the black outfit (while not being inherently "robotic", more like a "future soldier" thing) doesn't make him look too "evil" - part of the appeal (for me at least) of the old design was that it evoked the "knight in shining armour" trope and made him instantly stand out as the hero.

Sweet this seems promising. I love the original movie and this looks quite good so far.

New suit looks okey, nout wrong with its design. Don't see why it would be 'metal' lets be fair, its the 21st century now and we're already discovering items that aren't metal that would do better as armour. My only issue is it does look like something you'd expect to be fairly bog-standard combatware as Futuristic Sci fi visions go at the moment, as opposed to something that stands out (not like we can really say what stuff will look like in the future).

I don't understand a lot of complaints when it comes to the remakes (Lead Adventure is 99% free of the worst ones mind you).

Its like the complaints made about Man of Steel which I thought was an awesome movie, but many people whined about it anyway.

Its like the people doing the complaining are either old enough to remember the original movies of their childhood/young adulthood and believe thats how it should be, OR its people closer to my age who are these 'the original is always better' nerds. In other words its often people who feel their perspective of a specific genre is the right perspective and everything should follow it.

Of course there are some films that are just timeless. Personally I feel Alien/Aliens will never get old, and even today it just feels like its still futuristic.
