I lost a bayonet, what is my best option?
« on: July 23, 2013, 05:02:46 PM »
while cleaning a 28mm miniature with a file I realized that his bayonet was gone.I must have popped it off and sent it flying across the room.  the room is messy enough that I'll never find it again.  what is my best option to replace it? sculpt it from a plastic sprue or Modeling clay? maybe there is a cheap hero click that has one?  thanks for the advice.

Or you could tell os what the mini is, from what manufacturer. Perhaps someone is willing to send you a replacement or tell you where to get a duplica of the bayonet. :)

if you don't want to buy a replace, i'd say definitely plastic sprue! Use some sanding paper and in a few minutes you'll have a new bayonet. A little fragile, though.

Don't bother to replace it. Unless it is a battalion of Her Majesty's Guards, you can almost guarantee that at least one  lazy, idle, incompetent, useless bugger has mislaid, lost or sold his bayonet to the enemy.

Its one of these martian city dweller troops (parroom station)  http://www.parroom.net/Images-PSM/fluffimages/earthfluffimages/Col_GB_images/sepoyBritgroup.jpg

lol moonshado, well these are a competent bunch who are fighting for their honor, loved ones, and homeland and all that.  They run a tight ship too boot.

Thanks for the tips.
I think ill try my luck at crafting one from a plastic sprue for starters, i suppose i would craft the end of a long piece of sprue and only cut it off to size once its complete (so i have something to hold onto)

So I carved a crude replacement out of a sprue and just when I cut it off to size and realized it needed some more work, I was trying to file the tiny thing when I dropped it and it took a bounce off my foot into the unknown.  As I scoured the ground looking for it... I found the original metal bayonet!  All is well that ends well.

I once replace a lost bayonet with the end of a pin.

It didn't take long for the players to remember to move the miniatures by the bases

 :D :D :D
