On the March women in tow.the german askari, usually went with their wives to  take care of their men sometimes bringing the kids along,or they would be given a servant,as to be an askari was high on the stature list, and oddly enough the german officers were tolerant of their customs.I guess a happy Askari makes a loyal one ,also German Askari;s on the whole were paid twice that of the other colonies askari's/

Do you know what equipment the colonial forces would have used eg. what type of rifles/artillery/automatic weapons?

"Black and white in color" is £149.99 on Amazon!!!

Wow,did that price go up,I paid 27.99 two years ago, ijust checked Amazon U.S.,69.99to 324.00dollars,maybe check "Belle and Blade'.in the U.S.O.K.now for equipment,The rifle was the 1871-74 mauser, (not smokeless)    then the 88 mauser, until 1900,then they received the KAR 98 mauser carbine,Mg's include maxims,37mm SChnell feuer Kanone(POM-POM), 8cm krupp mtn. gun,6cm krupp field gun1896 model ?(I have to double check)also a 3.7cm hotchkiss quick fire breach loading gun,can be fired by one man(as seen on the show top shot)They also used lots of native auxillaries, and the troops up north  had a good portion mtd.The mg's up north were pulled by a convential teamed limber .The terrain in kamerun varied to savannah and desert up north jungle in the middle and coast and mtn's to the east ,lots of rivers, south mix of jungle and savannah, they would use every type of boat war canoes ,paddlewheeler's,steamlaunches, and usually one porter minimumto every soldier, black NCO's,in slouch hat, white officer's inall sort of headgear and uniforms, they almost looked like Boers half the time.I'll keep digging.....
