Here is a WIP I thought some might like to see before I paint her.

This is just an easy kitbash that I have had on my painting table in this state for 2 years or so, waiting on me to paint it.
Well, after finishing up the Junks, I'm trying to finish a bunch of the uncompleted pulp projects I have and this is one.
She is mostly made from the classic Revel 1/48 mystery airship kit, built stock minus the wings and engine cowling. I seem to recall moving the landing gear in a tad as I recall they attached to the wing parts I left off. The front is rounded off with a lego dish and a GW bit.
The engines are at43 karman flyer engines. [Thats what the look like when you bust open those stubby wings]
The Artizan tommygunner is just for scale.
I have a Bob Murch Pulp Pilot already painted up and waiting on his ride to combat those viscous pirates [both sky & sea].

I really like the engines, but the tail bothers me a bit. Do you think you might angle the front of the rudders back at more of an angle?

What would bother me is the fact that the tail is dangerously close to the exhaust and almost in it's path...
So yes, best not to think too realistic.

I think it's the fabric over frame that doesn't look right.  I'd expect them to be metal instead.

You could replace the existing tail with a V-tail.  Or maybe even an X-tail.  Either would get the control surfaces out of the engine exhaust.

Other than those minor quibbles, it looks great.  I can't wait to see it painted up.  :)

Great project, I like it.
The only thing I would change is to mount the fairings under the engines.
Looking forward to seeing it painted up.
There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today...turn two points to port.

Looking good.  Lots of interesting comments and all are valid, but it is PULP and therefore meant to be a little 'strange'.  I would mount the wheel fairings under the engines and possibly have a couple of stobby wings outside the two engines.

Great work so far - just paint it RED.

That's a beauty of a little RED rocket proppeled personal air transportation system.

I like the engines, and the plane body, I just feel it needs a little more ability to turn, perhaps nozzles at the end of the engines to turn? Like the harrier?

Cheers
Matt

Yes! Thank god I'm not the only who thinks little stubby wingtips outboard of the engines would look good.

Spot on, Andy!
