Those are really, really nice! I hope everyone realizes just how tiny and fiddly these ladies are. I got a set, fussed around for a bit, and sold them on... ::)

Great work!

The Woodsy Babes are BEAUTIFUL...GREAT brushwork & color choices. VERY WELL DONE!

I haven't really followed Privateer Press' new releases for quite some time...I think the Girls may have spurred me to catch up.

When you have a moment, would you please go over how you do the black robes?  The transitions are so smooth and as I'm about to do a bunch of Drow for a friend for Christmas, I can see this being useful in multiple cases.

Thanks all!

Thanks! Here's what I said in my blog post:

Quote
I've already said some things about how I approached the painting of this force and these were done in the same way. When it comes to black, I recommend thinking about what material is represented and how it reflects light in real life. A rough black cloak is reflects a fair degree of light and appears fairly dull and light under the sun. I made the highlights fairly neutral but a bit on the warm side, giving them a more natural feel than the comic-book blue-for-black style Privateer made popular.

To that I can add I use as big a brush as will work and a wet pallette and put liberal amounts of matte medium in the mix to make very transparent layers. The specific paints were P3, adding a bit of Thornwood Green and some dark gray to black, maybe Vallejo Model Color Dark Gray, not sure, and building up to probably P3 Bastion Grey (a warm gray) and maybe made a little more neutral with GW Fortress Gray. With cloaks I usually do some stippling of very transparent browns and other grays around the edges for weathering.

Thanks Doomsdave, Faust and Andym!

Going to squeeze in some minions here as I painted them up to go with this force:

The Totem Hunter:

And last but not not least... or maybe they are least after all ;) .... the swamp gobbers:

I said a few words about them in a blog post here:
http://belchedfromthedepths.blogspot.com/2013/09/hordes-minions-swamp-gobber-and-totem.html

Well, that's just about to the end for now. I'm going to try to get a group shot, and besides that there are a few unpainted Circle figures left, but I consider these a fully formed force. It's nice for once to a have a project I can say is done!  :D

I thought I was an ok painter, but you have more talent in your pinkie than I do my whole body.

How much to get you to paint a totem hunter for me?  Serious.
