Viking project
« on: August 09, 2013, 06:23:50 PM »
Inspired by my recent SAGAing at the Shed which is covered here:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=56589.0
and here:
http://www.matakishi.com/saga1.htm
I have embarked on a proper Viking project.

Phase one was re-basing my old Britannia figures which I've done.

Phase two will be painting an opposing force of more Vikings, this time from Crusader, which have just arrived.
More as it happens...

They look great, although from that angle they have a Dwarvish look!

Nice bright colours too.

Yes, being Britannia miniatures they're not the most realistically proportioned boys in the band and look dwarfish from any angle. However, I take character over realism any day, hence the bright colours :)

Lovely work there, Matakishi!

Nothing wrong with bright colours for vikings, prefectly correct.

Cheers
Iain.
Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever

Wonderful!

I am with the Crazy fella on this.
Between building a town in no time at all and putting together a quality force for the tabletop, it is amazing how quickly and effectively you pull it all together.

Actually I've been very slow this year. This is the first stuff I've done since last November. The town has taken a month and a half where it should have taken a week and a half and I only re-based the Vikings, I painted them in 1992. I haven't painted a single actual figure this year, just some buildings and scenic items. I'm trying to paint some figures at the moment but it's slow going :(

Nothing wrong with that when there's quality ;)

Glad to be of some inspiration...we'll definitely employ them in the shed....

Sadly they don't quite fit into the m&t universe otherwise you could use them tomorrow night lol

See you tomorrow

As part of my '2015, Get Stuff Done Year' (see also my Napoleonics thread: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=75952.0 and my AGON, heroic roleplaying thread: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=29539.0) I have decided to make some additions to my existing Vikings so I can have some games of SAGA.

To this end I have painted enough new Vikings to give me two four-point armies instead of my existing single six-point army.

All Britannia Miniatures of course, except the new Warlord who's from CP Models.

Warlord (and Chopper Tom replacement, see website for the sorry details  :'( )

Hearthguard

Warriors

Everyone together in a mad, slavering, ravaging horde

I'm just waiting for another building and some fences to arrive and then there'll be some shots of the town with the boys in action.
