"You have set a new standard to be emulated by others (whether they 'borrow' or 'steal' your ideas)."

Yep.  Call it what you want, I'm "borrowing"

I can't add anything to the comments already made.  Wonderful work.

Building suggestions?  I like the train station, and you can add a telegraph office to it as well.  Bank seems like a "must have" so it can be robbed.

Looking forward to future updates and your tutorials as I'll hopefully be starting soon myself.

I absolutely agree on the train station.

A big riverboat would be pretty cool too. That would depend on you making a water feature for your board, but it would be pretty amazing to have the town you've built so far and have fighting spill out into the river/riverboat.

Just a question: where do you find your styrodur? apparently i'ts quite hard to find here.
Well, i assume that styrodur is similar to insulating foam (the higher density), and it's not FOREX, right?

awww, those names are a real mess! >__<

Stunning work.
I was a bit confused about all the updates being on the first page. Missed a load of updates. This is going to be a great town.

Sangennaru;

Styrodur is indeed high density insulating foam with a verry fine consistent structure. With this stuff alone you can build the most excellent stuff.
See my styrodur section:

http://www.shiftinglands.com/projects/

The one I am using comes from BASF manifacturer but you have more companies around the world that produces similar foam. I got pink foam from the US and even got green and puple foam as well. All difrent kinds but all work more or less the same.
For me Styrodur is easy to come by. Buy them in sheets om 120 x 60 x 10 centimeters.

Working with balsa in combination with foam is great. It holds acryllic paints well but no paints out of spray cans. Those paints eat the styrodur away.

I just realized that you added a lot of updates at the end of your first post, which is quite unusual for me, but makes sense for having all the pics nicely together. An absolutely fantastic casino! Are you planning to add furniture and other equipment? Are you building every single window on its own, or do you use castings?

Thank you all for the nice comments.
Realy keeps me motivated. ( need some since this roof is more complex then expected ).

No castings admiral, all is scratch build. But since I am working with standard sizes for windows and doors I can work relatively fast. And when you make series of doors or windows  you can speed up the work a lot.
Ok it is a lot slower then using pre cut or cast items but it is a lot cheaper as well :-)

I plan to add some items in there ( optional ) but all in good time. After the casino it looks like I have to start thinking on building this train station.
And I must not forget that I still have to paint the miniatures. Then I have to test the Dead Man's Hand rules and the FistFull of Lead rules.
Oh and then we have the " how do I paint these buildings " issue.

And thought I was doing hobby stuff........

Cheers

Things really are looking great. As long as you remember to seal the balsa wood with some kind of sanding sealer or even a clear matte spray of some kind you will be fine. Balsa just sucks up paint and stain if you don't seal it first.

Don't know if you are an established fan of any rule system yet, but I happen to be partial to two in particular - Six Gun Sound - Blaze of Glory by Two Hour Wargames, and The Rules With No Name by Foundry, but the un-prettied up version is still available from the Yahoo group, or from gamers who have it (like me).

Each rule set has its own pluses and minuses and part of it is the feel for which you are looking.  6GS has the advantage of a rule structure that is used in all of Ed's rules, so whether you are playing Old West, post-apoc/zombies, WW II, NAM, swashbuckling, ancients & medievals, or space/future in 5150, the other games are easy to pick up once you have a feel for the games mechanics.  The THW blog has a downloads page so you can test drive the mechanics to see if they suit you.  They are excellent for solo play.  Chain Reaction 3 is the one I'd recommend as it is the one that tends to get modded by the users for other periods.  The 6 Gun Sound version available as a free download is notably inferior to the re-done 6GS-Blaze of Glory.  There is also a ver active yahoo group with lots of additional materials and fast answers to rules questions.

The Rules With No Name (I was one of the first contributors/playtesters) also has a good-sized following.  Rules are easy to learn, also give a fun, fast play game.  The Foundry releasr has some nice color pics, and other additional stuff that is nice to have, but you can play easily with the free version.

I'll give DMH rules a go, as I'm a rules junkie for the periods I game but it will take a lot to get me to jump ship at this point.  Having said that, I really like the minis.

Cheers,

JJ

Thanks Terrement for pointing out some rulesets. I will look in to them for sure.

Just put up another update on the casino and found out that a topic can have 20.000 caracters max. I had to delete some text
to get this update up. Guess I will do a final update next time and might delete some text somewhere else in the topic to get that update up.
