Yeah, the base sizes and the scale inconsistencies are annoying.

I'd snap up a box of LOTR hillmen if they ever release them separately... the LOTR stuff is usually a decent match scale wise for my stuff.

I think they are out already.
However maybe it would be a good idea to look up some scale comparison pictures (if there is any), before you buy it, because I read it somewhere that the new figures are bigger than the older LotR line.

As much as I like the idea of the Warhammer Underworlds game I passed on the new release since it didn't include any stats (or plans for stats) for any of the existing Warbands I have.

Then they posted the first "balance" update today and I am glad I did skip the game.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/ojvcfiuf/warhammer-underworlds-the-first-balance-update/

Some of these are crazy. How did they not catch these in the initial testing?

Well we don't bother with the cards too much. They are not essential to the game and some of them are clearly broken, others are essentially useless.

The problem is that when a new game is released you, as a player, don't know this. You can make assumptions based on the company though. The Blood Bowl cards were generally useless which makes you wonder why they were even produced other than a shameless cash grab.

The quality of the cards speaks to their general lack of good playtesting as well.

There are also games where those 'optional' cards make the game much easier to play. Aeronautica Imperialis, for example, was much easier to play with those aircraft and pilot cards but they were produced in such small numbers they were impossible to get.

Also, with most GW games, players are likely going to be gaming with random people at local stores...meaning you show up, not using cards...and your opponent shows up and kicks your teeth in with a bunch of cards/rules/gear you've never heard of.  lol

I remember seeing someone on one of the Necromunda groups posting a picture of perhaps 25-30 cards decks...and acting very pleased with himself that he'd spent untold hundreds of dollars to have them all... :?

Aside from the, hopefully, upcoming High Elf releases for Warhammer, I am not really looking forward to any new releases from GW. Nor have I been for some time.

I know that we all critique the company and their releases but are any of us actually buying new minis from GW?
Not new, I buy their "new" minis second hand now. I find some good deals pop up on Troll Trader and they are great for me with their flat rate shipping that doesn't cost me a kidney

I was looking through my old Terror of the Lichemaster box, and found this sheet at the back. Oh, how timesprices have changed :D

I suspect the forum will scale it, but I think clicking it should show a readable size...

“20 skeletons and Heinrich £10”

Too funny. Heinrich ALONE would be double that, today…  lol

Mind you, if you adjust for inflation from 1986, the Tomb Kings skeletons on the GW site are pretty much exactly the same price as these guys (at £52 for 36). A pint was only 82p back then ...

The scale is fine - the metals were bigger than the plastics, the plastics were always tiny. Seems like they matched the new plastic to the metals, and it looks good to my eye.

Thanks for sharing TD, the scale looks good. I must admit I'm tempted to pick some up too.

No worries  :)

I think my only caveat is that they can be a bit fiddly to assemble, due to how sleight the parts are, but they go together well enough.

New GW stuff for 2025.

I like the new AoS and Necromunda stuff, and I always wanted a Hige Elf skyboat and a lion chariot :)
