Oh, that's some money.

I'm sure that shapeways can print your models, they are quite elastic on that. Maybe you'll have to split in two, but i've printed things 50mm long with no problems.
The point is, the quality is not excellent. But well, with 20 euros they will print you a figure, so maybe it worth a try! =)

yeah they could have printed them, if I cut them up, but their quality was´nt what I was after.

true. For my small projects i used shapeways, the result is nice but it could have been much better than this!

Yes, you can use all sorts of stuff in 1:35/1:32 scale (cars, farm animals, Play Mobile etc). and they are quite cheap as well :-)

No, the table size is the same, as I mentioned earlier on in this thread, I only have a small table and no dedicated hobby room.
It´s just that the buildings/vehicles are a bit bigger, but I can still get upto 100 zombies and survivors on my table, which in this scale is one good "eye candy".

Instead of 20 x 28mm builings I have 10-12 on my table (still being built up).

Now you can have this argument with 6mm against 28mm, and the list goes on. There is no perfect scale or genre, we all do that what we like/can afford.
Even though I don´t do 6mm or 15mm I still love looking at all of the differnet scales/Genre on this forum. (everything is just one part of this huge hobby of ours)

You can 3D scan the minis perfectly....BUT, now we come into IP country..I did a test with my local 3D guys and it came out really good, we then destroyed the model afterwards due to this reason. I doubt very much that you would find a company (in Germany) that would scan alot of figures.

I meant scanning larger Resin Model Kits that ive already made (1/6 scale) and then shrinking them down to the 1/35 scale, 1/72, and so on.

Right now i am investigating a product called 'Reduce-It' made by Sil-Pak that shrinks after its been cast into a mould. I thought that it might have been easier to scan them, rather than to completely re-sculpt them in a smaller scale.

I studied 3D modelling in college actually. Last i checked the scanning technology still had bugs and didnt produce a very good model. It seemed like a better job would have been done had it been modelled from scratch.

I was just wondering, thinking that the technology had advanced much further in recent years.

wrong idea??? of course not!!! But every one of my printers asked wether that was my own design/idea!!

I think with this new technology every thought that we can come up with helps the guys at the printers.
My printers have chaged their machines 3 times since i´ve been working with them.

I had so many different options with my 4 local printers that I thought "are these people all in the same industry"?? But then I realised that with
this type of printing detail, of course I am going to get different answers.

And alot of the new "kickstarters" are doing their stuff in 3D and there has been some amazing stuff coming onto the market recently.

If you´re a 3D modeller then do it from scratch, you have the knowledge, much easier than trying to reduce scale.

Even "kev" at Hasslefree has started with 3Ding stuff...and that´s saying something!!!

well, its good that theyre asking and making sure its an artist's own creation.

ya, a lot of the spin-casting shops ive been in touch with have made it very clear how they feel about re-casting. They wont do it. And not only that, they're ethically opposed to it. Im glad to hear for 3D printers its the same. 

Hopefully, if we can all get this mentality going, maybe one day it can be completely eliminated.

On a completely different note, I like 1/35 scale solely for collecting and painting.

Some people, they'll turn their entire garage into a museum.

I dont know if you know, but Tamiya has a set of 1/35th US Army and Marines (Its a box of eight figures, four and four.) from the current Iraq War. It looked like a pretty nice set and I thought of this project the moment I saw them.

Hey Mingans, yeah I saw those as well, perfect for the "rest" of the army that survived after "The Event".

As there are so many modern military/SF operaters on the market I will not be doing any of these, I want to concentrate on figures that are not available.

I have just run into the same problems that 3d Forge are having with their 3D prints for the kickstarter.
