I don't know if any colonial rules based on Warhammer Historical sets were ever written. I know some modifications to 40k were once penned by one of the authors (was it Jervis Johnson? I forget now) though I don't recall them being very extensive.

I used to use WH The Great War for my colonial games, they work pretty well with only the minimum of modifications.
I told you so. You damned fools.

I am fairly certain there is a LoTR Colonial variant in the Yahoo Group here:

You'll have to join to find it though.

I have a set of Colonial Warhammer based rules, that I wrote for GW - just prior to Warhammer Historical going down the pan.

They are based mainly for the Zulu War though there are other lists included.

Technically they are 'owned' by GW but if you would like to have a look at them, say with a view to 'play testing' - just in case they do wish to publish at some point...let me know by PM and I'll send you them.

The rules themselves run to 51 A4 pages, the historical section is another 33 and the ZW lists, another 14, there are also other charts, tables, cheat sheets and optional rules - so they are quite extensive.

There are a number of 'new' ideas but the rules are basically WHAB based.

Cheers

There's also Tanzanica, based on Mordheim:

There was also a Sudan based conversion in Wargames Illustrated #215 & 216 I think.

Sad to hear that. I doubt WH-Historical will ever fit into their new Portfolio of World of Skullcraft again.

There was a skirmish set based off of Mordheim called Tanzanica or something like that.

GW Historical was almost a one man show and the poor cousins of the fantasy stuff - when I used to go into GW shops - the shop wallahs had never heard of the WHAB stuff, (much to my disapointment as I thought I would be entitled to a discount on a pot of paint for my past efforts with WH)

GW did not make any 'historical' figures (possibly because 'gamers' wouldn't pay the prices GW would like to command) - so they had little or no interest in WH.

The writing was on the wall when they transfered WH to Forge World - I did hope it would be the 'end of the start' for WH but ended up being the 'start of the end'

I tend to think Warhammer Historical did not evolve or get its supplements out fast enough....you've only got to look at Flames of War(hammer) to see the potential that went begging.....

Fat chance of any discounts from GW these days!!!!

I'm just glad I managed to get WABV2 and the published supplements I wanted before they shut down.  I would have loved to have seen more 19th Century books etc

I know this is a bit late, but this adaptation of Warhammer Great War might be of interest:
