It's a really nice project to undertake as a small side project. Tons of fun, and you can use almost all of the materials over and over with new rulesets!

Gotta agree with you that this Gladioli lark is very addictive.
I have one of Bibble's wonderful hex boards and a pile of fighters that I am itching to get at.

Hooked and I havent even had a chance to paint anything yet.

Thanks guys, this was just a throw together. Furt's right, the plan is to take my spare Battlefoam foam and make an insert to hold my gladiators. I'm also planning on making a seal of some kind to go on the inside of the box to say something like:

Founding of the
House Ericus
104 AD
Ulpia Noviomagus Batavorum

The last bit was the Roman name for the Dutch city Nijmegen, an old Roman camp. But since I'm crap on the computer I doubt this will be much more than a word doc that I hit with ink. I wish I could do a Roman type border and a stylized font, but my copy of Word doesnt have anything... Bummer.

The box came unfinished, so I hit the entire thing with Strong Tone Army Painter, so that's the shade on wood... I think it came out well, and really didnt use very much at all. The sopt on the inside lid that I want to cover was where I glued the handle to hold while I varnished it.

All in all, about 4 hours of work without drying. And now a nice arena to take to my games night! Cheers guys!
