Cheers Mason! I wanted some continuity for my Ludus, perhaps 'first string' and 'second string' colors as well.  That way I can use them as opposition to each other or from the same house for a mass fight.

I love the "MORT" shield of the murmillo - nice work Too Bo Coo.

Looking forward to seeing a match from you.

Gorgeous stuff...shame so many of these great Ludi are separated by pesky oceans and such... :'(  I think a grand tournament would be a blast...

Thanks for all the nice comments Mates!  I'm pretty happy with how these first turned out, and have 4 more prepped with primer for this week's project.  I'm also on the hunt for a tin to do a small 3d arena to go with my mats.  BTW, VERY happy with Hotz mats for gladiator games. They are very nicely done and the quality of the mats themselves seems top notch.  Go with the deluxe for a couple of more colors, helps the mat to pop.

I also came across these from Black Tree Design.  Not very 'historical', in fact I'd say better for a fantasy gladiator game like Red Sand Black Moon, but they are cheap!

I picked this pine box up at a second hang shop, and although I could only fit 9 squares in per side, it's nice as a test project for an afternoon.  I intended it to be a wood pit arena on some far flung province, so modest in every sense.  When I go home to the States for the holidays I'll drop by an art supply and pick up plastic columns for my Playmobil arena Smiley

Anyhoo, here is my wip....

I really like the wooden paneling look a lot. It looks like it belongs in some far flung town of a province in the north somewhere.  :)

Although the dimensions are a little tight, it will prove interesting trying to keep your gladiator off the wall. A slightly more rectangular box would do the trick nicely.

Looking forward to seeing this finished.

Oooh, I like that, TBC!
 :-*

I will get around to sorting out my own arena soon and all these offerings are providing great inspiration.
