Best Female Faces 25-32mm
« on: August 20, 2013, 11:40:52 PM »
I just finished painting a Bob Ridolfi sculpt. Her face nearly painted itself, the details were so well sculpted. Cheekbones, eyes, jawline - they were all well defined without being overly sharp so it was easy to get a soft layering of the shadows and highlights. It had to be one of the best paint jobs I've ever done on a face, and I suck at painting faces.

What sculptors do you like for female faces?

Tim Richards - for his Mascot Models range - definitely NSFW.

Any pictures?

Anyway, I love well-sculpted faces, male or female. They make such a huge difference to a model. recently painted this Axe Faction beauty.

Overall, I think Julie Guthrie does a great job with faces in general. Gael Goumon too.

Anything Kev White.

I'm admiring Statuesque too, but I've yet to paint the ones I've acquired.

My macro setting is being as fussy as my ex wife, so they didn't turn out so well. I'll try again soon.

Well, here's a shot of the Reaper Female Scientist sculpted by Ridolfi. Hopefully it imbeds since Picasa is a headache after switching to G+ photos.

I hope this won't be taken as pissing on someone else's preference, but Klocke's faces really turn me off his minis. While Werner has a few good faces, a lot of time I find his faces have this sort of "alien triangular" look, both men and women that drives me bananas.

I agree. Werner's faces aren't what earned the name "Klockenbooty". Not that they're ugly, just a bit wide in the forehead. It does make them distinctive.

BTW, has anyone seen Patrick Keith's line of Bombshell Babes at www.bombshellminis.com ?

You know, credit where it's due. Ali and Mike McVey have some very nice faces as well, both male and female.

As do some of the Privateer press sculptors, but I don't know who sculpted what in that line.

Yep - the Khador Widowmaker sniper figure, albeit with an eyepatch, is finely sculpted.
