Here's the officer, I'm pretty happy with him, the idea is the left hand is casting a spell. When I get to the green stuff stage I'll add a bit of flame to the hooves. At paint stage the horse becomes a nightmare.

Opinions needed: specifically, should I or should I not add the modern equipment (gas mask canister, bread bag, entrenching tool) to the figures?  Also, for those w modern weapons, what do you think of their carrying shields on their backs?

+1 for adding the "modern" German kit to the knights and their mounts. I like the idea of placing some of the shields on their backs.

A bit of an update on the slow pace of updates on this project. I've not been satisfied with either of my methods for posing arms. I'm going to try a third method - converting the crossbow arms from the Teutonic foot set. Unfortunately due to my current residence in South Africa I won't have access to the sprues until I return to the US for a visit at Christmas. Thus this project is essentially shelved until next year.

I'd always intended to do a foot version of each knight anyway but I was unable to get the sprues I needed during my last home visit.

Ok, long time gone but this project has not been abandoned. I did make it home and was able to get some Templar foot, some additional parts, and some fresh green stuff. I now have 12 riders and mounts primed and ready to paint. I added army kit to everyone and have shields on most.

My thoughts on painting the horse clothes (what do you call the cloth barding on Teutonic horses?) is to go with an oak leaf or peadot  camo and a different camo on the riders' tabards. For the shields I'm going back and forth between panzer grey w symbols and a three-tone pattern (yellow, green, brown). Armour will be metallic, horses black w red eyes and no markings. Original vision was to do all the fabrics white and black symbols but with forbidden images in place of historical Teutonic icons.

Any suggestions or warnings will be appreciated.  I'll be painting soon w pics to follow not long after.

Ok, here are the long delayed pics - WIP obviously:

A selection of shields, I'm not favoring the panzer grey but I like both the others - thoughts?

Looking great. Keep it coming. The camo on the horses looks very good.

They look very cool. It's an unusual concept but it's executed to perfection.
