Neo-Sov Partisans and Scavengers from Copplestone Castings
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:28:30 PM »
Hi All,

Just finished my first sampling of figures from Mark Copplestone's 'Future Wars' range.

Great castings and a load of fun to work on - highly recommended.

As the models work nicely with those from Lead Adventure, I'll probably use these in a setting similar to 'Metro 2033'.

If you want to see a few more pics please feel free to drop over to my blog:

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Cheers,

Curt

Great work! I really like the two figures walking together and their positioning on the base adds a nice touch. I like when people don't always base everything in the center of the stand. Well done!

Is there a tutorial on how you did those junk piles you have pictured on your blog?
A dash of salt. A pinch of make believe. A dose of wishful thinking. A smidgen of truth. There you now have the recipe for a rumor.

Hey guys, thanks for your kind words.

The junkpiles are pretty simple affairs. They are an assortment of model parts, film spools, old hacksaw blades, plastic sprues, etc. all hotglued on to a MDF base (which were cut in irregular curving 'pork chop' shapes). The perimeter ash/detritus is Liquitex gel medium (which you get at pretty much any craft store, I use the 'Resin Sand' type). Once the glue and gel has set you spray the whole works with black primer, making sure you get into all the crooks and crannies.  Then take a big drybrush and do a HEAVY application of a rust colour of your choice over the works.  Then do a lighter drybrush of a charcoal grey/black colour. Then highlight with a light grey. Done and dusted.

Hmm, that's a lie. I still need to add some bashed-up bricks to the junkpiles so they blend better with the groundwork of my figures. That will have to wait for a rainy day.

Anyway, I hope this helps!

Best,

Curt

Thanks FFF! I'm really not focusing on any system or anything. I think we'll first use them in a couple scenarios based on the 'Metro 2033' setting. Next up will be another unit of these Copplestone guys and then some Lead Adventure 'Street Judges'. I have a scenario in mind and I'll provide an AAR if it comes off.
