Actually on this I feel it is the PERFECT accoutrement for wearing around one's inlaws.  lol Bwahaha!
It also gets lots of questions and odd looks when one is demo'ing SA at a con or other gaming event, especially since the only people that recognize it are usually other cultists. ;) Wear it like a badge of honour!

I agree with this it's a great shirt and aside from wearing it around the inlaws, why not wear it to work like I do?
Still, I'm quite curious about what Diehard can come up with.

To be honest, I rarely wear mine and when I do, the typical - or even the only - reaction I've got has been "Wow, you look like a heavy metal fan" (which I never do otherwise). I can hardly deny that. Certain iconography has been strongly adopted and very thoroughly used in that scene.

However, there's practically zero chance I'd buy anything with tentacles on it because that concept has been overused to such extent that it's not even funny any more. My strong belief is that HPL himself mentioned The Witch-Cult in Western Europe and pagan rituals far more often than tentacles so the current design is more canonical than any tentacle theme. If you want those, watch anime.

Besides, it is the Cult of the Black Goat so what did you expect?

My own cult is more coastal themed. I call it "the Cult of the Blue Oyster". Should I press t-shirts for that?

More genuinely weird and obscure things, less tentacle porn, please. My latest apparel purchase was a yellow sign shirt with absolutely no text on it. Stuff like that is conveniently between recognisable and subtle to me.

If you did, you would have at least one sale from me and I know that UM is also a big fan... 8)

Something deep one-ish would be cool or something with a touch of the non-eucludian geometry about it? The latter one might be a challenge though. Although it id the cult of the Black Goat though  :)

Instead of the focus of the shirt being on the CULT, how about the subject of the CULT'S ATTENTIONS? As in, what Elder God are they trying to bring into our world?

Not that i disagree buuuuuut...how is a multi-hooved/eyed/mouthed slobbery, trans-dimensional entity clawing itself into our world getting away from the whole satanic/evil thing that is not to be shown to in-laws?  lol o_o

Hey, here I was planning to leave my Black Goat shirt behind when I go to visit the in-laws next week.  Better put it with the stuff to pack!  Thanks for the reminder guys.

Something here reminds me of the story "The Outsider" but I cannot quite put my paw on it...

Half of my in-laws, including mother- and father-in-law are convicted felons. I don't think a t-shirt will bother them...  lol

It's the pentalpha. Too much baggage with that to ~simple folk~ who don't know that it was used extensively in the recent past to depict the five wounds of Jesus.

Thanks for the interesting input everyone. It would seem that it's not just me getting that impression. Once again though, this is not a knock at the present shirt, it's a nice design and done well. It's just that, given the subject matter of the game, when I hear "Black Goat", I'm thinking "of the wood with a thousand young." So yeah, right now I'm thinking along the Shub-Niggurath lines. Now the past couple of days have been predominantly occupied with introducing a new kitten into the household and fixing the riding mower but I hope to have a few thumbnails done this week.

Also, the "Needs More Tentacles" was supposed to be just a little tongue in cheek. I get the whole Lovecraft Cthulhu Tentacle thing, but I wouldn't add something to a design unless it fit. Too bad the Esoteric Order of Dagon is already taken, eh?

Ok everyone, as to the in-laws thing...

My in-laws are devoutly Catholic, and while they would never say anything, me wearing a shirt with Satanic-style symbols would upset them. I love them and they are wonderful people, so out of respect I would avoid wearing the shirt. I also could not wear it to work because A) it is against dress code and B) some people would find it offensive. A shirt with a neat monster on it would just be a shirt with a neat monster on it. The cult part might get half a raised eyebrow, but minus the pentagram and goat's head, the suspicion kinda peters out.

That being said, I do wear my Black Goat shirt out randomly where appropriate, and plan to wear it when I eventually end up demo-ing. It just might be harder to get recruits among the youngin's when their parents lay eyes on the shirt.

Remember, the most insidious and successful cults are the ones you don't notice...

Count me in as cultist #4 of the Blue Oyster Cult...I want an evil giant oyster on the front of my t-shirt...

I think you had better use a little google-fu on the Blue Oyster before you go declaring that you are Cultist #4.

They have a rather 'different' cult uniform in there........of course, this may be exactly what you were referring to.

Got to hand it to them, their drug crazed chanting dance is very pleasant to the eye, nothing like what Inspector Legrasse witnessed to :P

As a matter of fact, I have that exact version of El Bimbo by Jean-Marc Dompierre and his orchestra on vinyl (K-Tel, 1982). I had to hunt it down from some semi-obscure French marketplace. As far as I know, there are no mp3 copies of it available on the public web. What you get by searching is a bunch of other artists, fakes and looped samples from the movie, not the real thing. I only play mine in secret cult meetings. Makes the crowd go crazy every time.

Being so rare and influental, does it count as a...forbidden record?

I think both the orchestra and the record label are from Canada. What do you make of that?
