I'm currently mildly singed (as opposed to burnt out) by work, and have passed some wasted hours of leave vaguely surfing the net (is that an obsolete expression?) and staring blankly at the computer screen. In this state of mind an idea for a new game setting sparked off some idle thoughts, which I hope I will never work on: rival squadrons of undersea tanks fighting across a submerged maze of coral, shipwrecks, Atlantean ruins and wrecked deep sea base.

Does this sort of thing happen often, and what weird proposals emerge from this sort of idle speculation?

PS1: I consciously considered 'demon-possessed tanks' for a minute, but that was not actually part of the original 'inspiration'.
PS2: Did I unconsciously discover the plot of Pacific Rim 2? I enjoyed the original immensely.
PS3: Does anyone make 6mm scale diver models?

1)  Go with the flow.  Seriously, I like the original inspiration (and I like the idea)   8)

2) Never seen it but maybe you should pitch the idea to someone who will make a fan movie type thing?   :D

3) No one that I am aware of but with the proper figure to convert they should go easy...   ;)

Glenn

I once had an idea for a hang glider jousting game.  Sometimes ya just gotta embrace the weird and smile.  The idea never got off the ground, however.

I dream up bonkers ideas all the time, they'll never be done though.
Medieval hell mouth apocalypse gaming. Gorkamunda with full adobe/scrap yard hive board. Venusian big game hunting. 6ft high vertical space ship interior. Walled gardens labyrinth crawl......

Go for the underwater tanks game, would be a doddle to knock up!

  • I'm just going outside...
You could use the background of John Wyndham's The Kraken Wakes.
It even has some very nasty deep sea tanks although no underwater massed battles..
It requires less mental effort to condemn than to think - Emma Goldman

Guys, you're meant to tell me it's a daft idea and dissuade me.....
@starkadder - the Kraken wakes (by the author of the Day of the Triffids) is something I'd not thought of, good opponent option - thanks!

@Andrew May - my Google-fu was not that good, I only found the first of those three pics - thanks. As for the terrain - oh no, this is getting dangerous now!

@Scurv - the B17 idea is grand....

@Dr Pete - jousting gliders sounds brilliant  8)

@Dr Falkenhayn - that would make for a confusing url. But I think I like it.

@Conquistador - really think it could work as a game? I'd pitch the film idea to that Del Toro chap I heard mention...

Well, since I never watch TV and seldom ( - 4 times a year) go to the movies I might be the last person to speak but if you succeeded you would make LAF history!

I thought about this thread today while watching a short documentary on the Marajó buffalo police (SBS' "Global Village' for those in Australia)... and well, I want to set a game with them:

They patrol the wetlands in northern Brazil against drug traffickers. I think I can source most of the components from Eureka Miniatures... but I need a sanity check.

Will a game of this be exciting?

Sat watching "In the Night Garden" with my daughter one evening I started to consider doing an army for HOTT using the characters from the programme. I managed to stop myself going on Ebay to look for toy figures from the CBeebies magazines....
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Just curious.

Gracias,
