More great figures  :)

Quote
Simon, is he from the ex-Grenadier, Copplestone-sculpted Wars of the Roses range briefly carried by Companion Miniatures - now defunct? The style look similar.

Nope Richard - but you're right about some of the sculpting style being like Mark's. In parts the detail on these figures was very fine indeed.

Cheers, Simon.

Lovely entries, lads, well done!

Like the colours on the bowman, Richard, I think I didn't have that one yet, will be trying to take that for one of my miniatures.

I'm glad you like it Alex - although to be fair, it's not very original - purple and green is a classic colour complement. (Check out the ball boy/girl strip at Wimbledon)
Also, I'm finishing off several figures in this livery in my current batch of figures on the painting table, so I'm afraid you're going to see some more of it!
(Sorry, I know it's a bit boring, but I'm just posting them up here as I finish them off  :))

No. 39: Morthwyl–y-Goch ... Gael-Norse Raider circa C9th-C11th

Morthwyl is modelling this season's must-have item, a check cloak with hammer and shield accessories. He certainly won't be plaid by anyone, and shows he is equally at home tartan it about on board ship or braining a resisting villager.

His natural style is certainly a hit with the ladies, which is made all the easier when they're concussed and being dragged by the hair back to the boats. Equally stylish on the catwalk or the high street, his unique 'Isle of Man' look is easily complemented by oily iron, bloodstained leather and sweat-soaked fur, for that all-round coastal raider ensemble.

Thanks guys, most kind.

Yes, Redbox-Games, one of the Njorn range; I was lucky enough to buy a load of them before some of the range were discontinued, although this one is still available. I love Tre Manor's sculpting style with the sort of crisp detailing, natural poses and realistic proportions you rarely see on 28mm figures.

Why thank you - I love your eye-popping technicolour style too, but I lack the courage for it.

Outstanding work so far gentlemen, this thread never fails to disappoint!

Thanks for the kind comments on Archie Bell-The-Cat, and now presenting

#40 Sir John Edmonstone, Scottish knight of East Lothian, Otterburn 1388
Sir John was a staunch adherent of the Douglases and was part of the Scots army that roamed the north of England trolling the Percys in 1388. Later, he joined the bulk of the victors of Otterburn in charging to their doom at Humbleton in 1402.

Miniature by the ever-impressive Claymore Castings, form their fantastic Otterburn range. I was particularly pleased on how the heraldry on the shield came out.

Cheers
Iain.
Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever

Great work there - you're right, the crispness and neatness of the heraldic design really stand out.
