Only just watched the first episode(on BBC iPlayer), thoroughly enjoyed and will be watching the rest very quickly. I had a couple of gripes, the soundtrack music is awful and totally unsuited for the period being potrayed- the version of St James Infirmary had to be possibly the most inappropriate that could be found. I know that the industrial Midlands was a squalor and prostitution was rife, however the idea that they were copulating in the mainsteets, rather than in an alley or down by the canal seemed laughable. These however were minor quibbles compared to the overall level of production. Will hopefully enjoyed the rest of this series.
Thank you LAF for bringing this series to my notice, without this thread I would never have watched this.

Just a brilliant series! Didn't see that last scene coming at all! Will buy DVD on day it comes out!

Hamish McBeth!

Wait? Is that really Robert Carlyle?! I never would have been able to tell from just that picture.

No, I don't think its Robert Carlyle - he'd be pretty cool in the show though!

Any news on this coming to America?  I didn't see anything in my searching.
Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

@ Black Cavalier- I don't know if u can access the BBCs catch up site(http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer) in the States, but if you can they have all 6 episodes on there at present(don't know how long they will keep them available).

It looks like he's sporting a similar hairstyle as when Carlyle portrayed Hitler in the Rise of Evil miniseries. But a quick look on wiki shows that he's playing Rumpelstiltskin these days... :(

Thanks Moonshado but the BBC iPlayer isn't available in the US for TV shows, just for radio shows.  I'm guessing it's because we have BBCAmerica over here so hopefully they'll play.

Some spoilers kicking around on the BBC website. They give away who has been renewed for series two. My lips are sealed!  ;)
