Incidentally a Rolls Royce AC was accompanying Michael Collins the day he was killed! 'Sliabh na mBan' as it was named, is maintained in running order at Curragh Camp.

Been for a spin in her. ;) The Curragh is about an hour away.

Bovington also has one, I believe.

All the National Army Rolls Royce armoured cars were named:

ARR 1 'Tom Keogh' (formerly 'Danny Boy')
ARR 2 'Sliabh na mBan'
ARR 3 'Fighting Second'
ARR 4 'The Baby'
ARR 5 'The Manager'
ARR 6 'Custom House'
ARR 7 'Moneygall'
ARR 8 'The Big Fellow'
ARR 9 'Ex-Mutineer'
ARR 10 'Flying Fifty'
ARR 11 'Kilmichael'
ARR 12 'Knockananna'
ARR 14 'The High Chief'

Some played for both sides in the Civil War. Scot McPeake, the driver of Sliabh na mBan deserted to Republican forces shortly after the Béal na mBláth ambush, and took the car with him....

Sliabh na mBan was used by the IRA after McPeake's desertion. I believe he actually was assisted to return to Scotland, rather than actually swap sides. He took a lot of the blame for Collin's death. An urban legend has it that the Provo's kept the Vickers MG from the car and attempted to use it in the 70's whereupon it reportedly jammed again.

ARR 1 'Tom Keogh' (formerly 'Danny Boy') was reported to be running in a private collector's hands. I've no idea where the one at Bovington hails from.

"Tom Keogh" is here:

http://www.johnmalamatenios.net/armouredcar.html

Ah, the Peake conspiracy theory....Well, he took the car with him, whatever else he did. Bottom line is that nobody can say with any kind of certainy WHO shot Collins....and it doesn't really matter at this stage.

And here's th one at Bovvy:

Keep an eye out for a 1/56th scale Lancia carrier in the nearish future, and  few other bits and pieces........ :D

Oh, my...didn't even notice this forum thread!

Yes the Roller is complete and in production very soon.  I've been busy the last week or so updating the website and the "dayjob"...so I am a bit behind on my own models..but that will be remedied soon!  It took a last bit of effort to get the train into production and take delivery of the citroen halftracks.  And we had planned this year to be relatively easy on new releases.... (sigh)

The Austins are next priority, but I do have a 36 inch u-boat to finish as well as two more cars for the armored train (for July release)  As the Rolls was planned for July originally, the austins would end up hitting late summer, or just in time for everyone to flock to Lon's Brigade Games booth at Fall-in this year.  Somehow I deleted them from the release list!

A lancia?  hmmm, well, there still is that Austrian armored car that was mentioned on these forums to muck about with, but If enough folks send us or Brigade requests for one, it's sure to be added.  There are soo many armored cars to choose from, we really want to bring out the ones that have the largest appeal and use as possible.

Great looking model. How you any idea how fast you can ship to Europe (with out paying first priority and all that)? I'd really like to showcase this model for the Lead Painters League Back of Beyond themed round 10.

Just out of interest, I'd like to recommend 'Cry Wolf' by Wilbur Smith, it's a cracking read about the Italians in Somalia and a solitary RR AC... Very pulpy and right up our street imo.

http://www.wilbursmithbooks.com/novels/cry_wolf.html

Actually I recommend all of Wilbur Smith's books if you are even slightly interested in Africa of the last two centuries... Especially the Courtney and Ballantyne series that cover the familes from the early 1800's to about 1980 in Rhodesia and South Africa respectively. Loads of ideas for scenarios and adventures.

A Lancia you say?

Like this one?

Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

That Roller is a real beauty.  :-* :-* :-*  What are you doing to my wallet? o_o lol
BTW, another excellent book about the forthcoming WWI Roller is Steel Chariots in the Desert. It is excellent reading stuff. Actually, Company B should sell this book as a set together with their Model T Light Patrol/Long Bed and the Roller, of course... ;)

We ship CompanyB vehicles and our own to Europe all the time.
(We also ship figures and books  ;))

Postage is reasonable for first class which is the best way to ship IMO. Be aware that our webstore will typically overcalculate. Pay by cc and we will charge when we ship. If using Paypal we refund the overage.
Our shipping info is here:
http://www.brigadegames.com/go.mvc?ID=Shipping

to give you an idea -
$11.35   FC 6.3 OZ  6 figs, 1 small vehicle ($38) TO Netherlands
$15.45   FC 12.9 OZ  3 PACKS WW! Palestine, Model T ($60) TO Belgium
$17.05   FC 1 lb, 2.3 OZ  2 hellcats, decals & accessories ($92)TO France
$37.35  FC 2,14.1 OZ  60 figs + sub TO Spain (sent registered)

The master for the Rolls is on the way to the states but to be honest, I don't think we will have the high quality resin castings we are known for completed for at least 4-8 weeks, but definitely in time for Historicon in July. If it gets done prior to that consider that the casting Gods are looking kindly down upon us all.

One way we could possibly get it out faster is to cast a metal version as well which would most likely become available earlier than the resin and metal version. Anyone care to list a preference?

Thanks, Lon!

I certainly favour the resin variant.
