This tech is very real. The US military is working on a version for HALO drops.

Holy shit. It makes me think that fiction is hearding technology along, not the other way arround.

I think that has been true for some time.  Touchscreens on the Starship enterprise?  Touchscreens in the real world.  Two-way wrist TV/radios in the old Dick Tracy comic?  Modern teeny cell phone video camera doohickeys. And I can go on...  I have often thought that sci-fi has driven technological advancement at least as much as the converse!

Just to put your mind at rest. BBC morning news ran this story and showed him landing...well his feet touched the floor but not sure what happened then.  :?
I don\'t know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

Nice, but I really think the Swiss need to concentrate on their weapons first,  :D

(Sorry, couldn't help refrencing the good old Swiss army knife.)

Don't you be quiet? I don't want to know what they'll do when they start building tanks or rockets.

Well, they´ve been building tanks and fine AFVs for decades, like the Pz 61 and, more famously, the Piranha family... now, if they mated one of their Piranha variants to a bunch of those jetpacks, THEN I´ll start to worry.

Let´s hear it for the Swiss Mountain Navy Bicycle Brigade! lol ;)

The Swiss won't fight, they'll profit from the fighting. The jetpack is cool but I also look forward to the stompy robots.
