This is a (color) test
« on: May 15, 2008, 05:40:06 PM »
Hi everybody,

I'm trying to make my first post on this forum and I would like to take this occasion to ask you what you think of that color for late WWI French? I'm also trying my new Nikon L18 Coolpix for the very first time!  ;) Could someone tell me what sould be the better picture size to post (in pixels please)?

Oh! and the actual figure is a little less on the "purple" side.  ;)

Cheers!

Personally I would say that is a good colour for the shadows or basic colour, but you need a couple or three highlight layers with a bit of white added to really bring it off. Horizon Blue is quite a light shade to begin with, before you even think about it fading with use.

On my screen, anything much wider than about 610 pixels causes the dreaded scroll bar to appear.  :)

I agree with Plynkes. The helmet is fine but the uniform is too dark

Hello again!

I've tried some highlight of the base color. Thanks for your advice, it really help. There's a photo of the same figure with the highlight, I don't know if it will show well on a computer?

I haven't touch the helmet that much but somehow it appears as light as the uniform on the photo  :?

Cheers!  ;)

I can't tell the highlight from the photo, it looks like the lighting might be the culprit.

If you have access to Vallejo paints, try Oxford Blue. I think it might be a close match to the uniform on that magazine cover. You might have to lighten it a bit for scale purposes.
