Ancient German (pic heavy)
« on: September 08, 2013, 09:37:48 PM »
After seeing some excellently painted figures here, I decided to pull some figures out of the lead mountain and throw some paint around.  The figures are from Black Tree Miniatures with 2 Foundry Ancient Germans thrown in that I've had forever.  They were to be my warlord and his retune for my ancient German army that never got off the ground.  I decided to use them as barbarians for my Greek adventurers to fight.  They are not as glossy as they appear, might have to hit them with another coat of matt.  Hope you like them, C/C always welcome.

Put some serious matt varnish on them and you'll have a great collection  8)

Despite the "shine issue" (which, of course, isn't one, if you prefer the figures that way) – these are fabulous! Great choice and variety of colours. And those BT minis are nice, aren't they?

Great to see nicely painted BTD Germans! I like these miniatures a lot and also still have got some to paint on my desk.

THey look great, sort of agree about matting the colours as you can see the skill and shading you have used but is masked a bit in the photos owing to the gloss 8)

Very nicely done!  I also like matt finish better than gloss but it doesn't detract from the quality paintwork.   :)

Thanks for the comments.  I agree about the shiny issue. The "matt" varnish I used obviously didn't work out the way I hoped and today I went and got a new bottle of Testor matt varnish and reapplying that.  So far so good.  The BTD miniatures were a blast to paint and I'm thinking of getting more of their figures.

Awesome!  You make my ancestors look great!  Well done!

I think a tiny bit of highlighting on the tunic folds and a matte varnish and they'll be perfect.
