MAYHEM expanded!
« on: September 14, 2013, 07:11:09 PM »

MAYHEM
has been expanded... but not like you might think! The material that was originally going to be released in a separate expansion has been integrated into the original documents. There are a few reasons for this, but in the end it means one thing. Players that already own the game get the new material completely FREE of charge! Just return to Wargame Vault and download the updated files.

So, what's new in the expanded version? Here are a few highlights:

-There is a completely new characteristic added to the base unit profile.
-New unit designations are now available including fast cavalry, hordes, and swarms.
-Rules for war machines, artillery, direct and indirect fire
-Build restrictions lifted on behemoths
-Magic rules in the form of sorcery are present and include spells like blink, magic missile, summon, and time stop.

That's just a sample of what's inside. Download your updated copy today to check it all out!

So if you don't already own it but you are interested in checking it out, can you download the updated file directly or must you buy the pre-update download first then download the updates?

Gracias,

Glenn

If you download the game now, then you'll be getting the updated version only. No need to do download any pre-update files. :)

Thanks!  :D Glad you're liking it. The magic rules in particular cannot be fully appreciated until you take them for a spin in an actual game. The casting/counter casting metagame is almost a subgame in and of itself. I have some cool house rules that we use for summoning that I'll put up on the website after people have had a chance to get used to the base system.

I'm thinking your evil army could use a nurgling or bat swarm as well... 8)

Sorry for the threadomancy, but I wanted to ask a wee question and I didn't think it needed it's own topic.

I like the idea of creating mini-dioramas on unit bases, for Mayhem and other games; but is 6cm properly wide enough for 28mm minis? I'm thinking of sticking units on 8cm squares, but the problem then is opposing units. I know the standard answer is 'as long as all units are the same width/side' but will it irreparably wreck the game to have 8cm vs 6cm?

Probably worrying unduly, as usual. I think if there's going to be any Mayhem scene in this neck of the sticks, it'll be one I have a hand in setting up, 8cm units and all. :P

80mm bases will work perfectly. The decision to use 60mm as the standard was really around letting players get into the game without requiring larger numbers of figures. So, using 80mm instead of 60mm is really more a question of your group and their modeling preferences. Since your setting things up, I say go ahead and make it 80mm! [it's good to be king ;)]

I'm a huge fan of diorama bases myself. :)

I probably won't be using too many more minis per base - especially not with big, chunky GW ratmen - but I think I'd appreciate the extra space to arrange the swarming hordes all pretty like. ;) Ta for the response!

One more thing, if you don't mind. :) I should probably download the new war machine rules to find out (should download them, period), but what happens with bases if you want to use one of those humongous, goofy war machines from GW?
