Cyclops finally done!
« on: September 16, 2013, 11:22:18 PM »
Whew man, I started this project THREE YEARS ago, as documented in this ancient thread:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=23022.0

Poor Cyclops, languishing on my painting table all that time.   :(  Well, I finally finished painting it:

I wish I could say it was a joy to paint.  Unfortunately, the striations--a byproduct of the printing process--made applying washes difficult, while picking up drybrushing like crazy.  It was very difficult, all in all, to get paint where I wanted it to go.  On the other hand, the striations made applying weathering powders easier.

It's commanded by a chopped up Princess Viktoria.  I intend to replace her with some of the newer Hinterland Vehicle Crew members, but I suspect that will take an additional three years.   ;)

Excellent! Thats a really good looking VSF vehicle.  :-*

The striation is interesting. I've seen sheets of rough cast iron with a similar texture. I like it!

I like it! The effect really works. It's the kind of effect I'd like to get on certain of my own vehicle collection and I doubt I'd be so rapid. (3 years would be quick for me on some projects)

I like Victoria she looks fed up.

I agree, 'only three years'. Most of my lead mountain has had decades of 'looking at' and the nearest some will probably come to paint is sitting in boxes next to unopened tins of Humbrol. To be fair to myself I do paint, but nowadays it is mainly skirmish & acrylics.

I am renowned as a never completer, but three years IS a long wait for some that actually finishes.  :D

However, well worth that!

She's not 'fed up'; too much the pragmatist, she understands genius is not rushed. Having completed the trials smashingly, she is envisioning the redress of some wrongs too long left unsorted.

She can wait a bit longer for that proper crew...

Then, she can return to that position, for the parades triumphant!

I actually meant 'Fed up' in general. Not with the wait.

Give The Royal Lady a Prince. That'll cheer her up.

Next Project?

Lovely tank. Leave the commander cos she is ace. Nice work mister.

And 3 years is fast in my house. My 1st wargame show was in 1997. I bought some foundry knights and still plan on painting them.

Well worth the wait - lovely paint job.

But no smoke belching from the stacks - do all VSF steam tanks burn pollution free smokeless coal?

Please don't shoot me down if there is a thread somewhere on this subject or a very simple logical answer. :)
