They said that I can buy the book "A History of the Singapore Volunteer Corps 1854 – 1937".
But I do not need the whole story.
Let's think about it logically, they could use? U.S. weapons? Rifles, pistols, swords? I would welcome any thoughts.

My money would be on British weapons, uniforms if I had to WAG.

Edit:  Like this one in 1938 or so  http://www.amazon.com/Singapore-Volunteer-REVIEWED-Player-Sons/dp/B00DVYP67E

I think the influences would be the same as  this unit:  http://singaporeguardregiment.webstarts.com/uniform.html

Can't access Ebay from work but try this?  No50 SINGAPORE VOLUNTEER CORPS Uniforms of the British ...

you will need to sort out the gems from the detritus.

I can't search Facebook from work but there is this:

Singapore Volunteer Corps | Facebook

Cannot confirm this:  http://www.malayanvolunteersgroup.org.uk/?q=node/70

or this: http://www.oocities.org/tfoenander/chinesecompany.htm

http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/about_us/history/overview/the_early_years/v11n07_history.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straits_Settlements_Volunteer_Force has 1941 picture

Check the references section here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore_Volunteer_Corps you might come across a source there

There is a book referenced here: http://sgvolunteerscorps.blogspot.com/ Lions in defence the 2nd PDF story

Google can't find everything but it is where I would start, skimming through books from a lending library might be necessary.

My knowledge of Singapore doesn't go back far enough past it's existence as a nation in 1963 (and mostly I studied the country after the 1965 split with Malaysia) in enough detail to speak to that.  Perhaps some of the UK guys, other Americans, or other nationals might have that knowledge.  Now their economics and military from the 1990s until a little after 2010 I once knew in fair detail, not as all up to speed on them currently.

Sorry I can't help more.

Gracias,

Glenn
