Hammers, lovely work sir! Being a metalsmith in a past life l would recommend heating, bending, cooling, then heating again, bending again. The tinsel strength of the metal will only allow it to bend so far before it cracks and snaps. Wish I'd caught this thread earlier on, I may have been able to assist. You may also have some rubbish metal there.

Since I'm slowly working on this same project I will keep checking back in for ideas and inspiration! Thus far my lorries are repurposed Matchbox cars of yesteryear and my A/C's 3D printed.

Thank you very much for sharing your insights. Since profile brass rod is not cheap I had to mend the bows by soldering on ends. It works alright but it  takes  some patience and care to make sure the joins don't come lose  when you heat the metal anew.

Would you says that a square rod can take less bending than a round one?

Hammers, the moleculer make up of the metal will only allow it to bend so much before breaking, regardless of the shape. Since it's broken in about the same place each time it's best to stop before it reaches that point, let it cool, then heat it up again, anneal it just before it glows, then slowly complete your bend, and quench to strengthen it. Lead solder is good for most joints, however if it's to hold weight a brazing alloy is better for strength. This is tricky though and can lead to melting the rod if overheated.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or issues.

A somewhat over ambitious attempt to make a ammunition belt. You get the idea. It did not turn out all that w:)

Hammers,
Great to see that life and GOT has not made you abandon BOB and this great thread! Nice work on the tower and guards. I have faith in you about the ammo belt. I will probably work just fine after some trimming.
