The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of 28mm Laser Cut Western Buildings
« on: September 12, 2013, 01:57:50 PM »
With the release of western buildings from 4Ground/Great Escape Games and the redesign of the Tri City Laser/Knuckleduster line it is time to update my western building comparison post. Its a long post and includes a chart of what is currently available and pricing as well as my opinions of the 6 main players in the Laser Cut Old West building niche. Come on over and settle in for a spell:

I think Lee also said his buildings were available through Caliver Books (which is the UK distributor for Knuckleduster I believe?).  Just for the UK fellas' info.

Just imagine in 10 years when 3D printing is cheaper...lord help us.  Nothing will be out of reach (at least for wargaming purposes!).

I am curious where 3D printing will be in 10 years. I think it might be longer before it falls into the hands of the likes of us though.

Well, I'm sure, but we already have places like Shapeways etc.  While expensive and a bit on the crude side, it's a heck of a start.  So I'm imagining more companies like Shapeways with better quality in the future, for more reasonable prices.

Eventually (a long while) when it's becoming perfected we'll see even more craziness.  Pretty cool stuff.  I'm not sure when/if it'd become cost effective though.

During the conversation with my monthly painting group one of my friends indicated that he is considering investing in a 3D printer, one of the high resolution $50,000 machines. He is a sign printer by trade so this fits into his regular business as well. What it really means is that I, potentially, will have access to a really high end machine! Very exciting.
