Nice project, I love Heroquest as a fun game, goes down well with friends over a decent claret or two.

I am awaiting the arrival of my Itars Workshop Kickstarter dungeon sets (insane amounts of pieces :o) with equal measures of excitement and trepidation to do something similar.

Rob,

I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I'd originally looked at the Dwarven Forge Kickstarter for my dungeon stuff but it was too expensive including the shipping.  So far I've spent less on Ainsty than I would have spent on the Dwarven Forge shipping!

This is a quick shot of the board laid out with the bits I have from Ainsty so far - painted and unpainted:

I have found a couple of problems with the Ainsty tiles in that they are not all exactly the same size.  The special floor tiles with the trapdoors in them are slightly smaller in one direction.

I am also now thinking about going with an original plan and perhaps getting the HQ room floors done in MDF as single pieces and painting them the appropriate HQ colours as it would keep down the cost and let me put them together faster.  The Ainsty tiles and walls would be used for everything else.

I'm in the middle of a test paint on an MDF section that Sarissa did for me a while back so I'll see what it looks like...

Here are some Dungeon Tiles that Sarissa made for me a while back.  I did them to work with the Ainsty resin staircases etc.

Hi Mick

If you remember I got the details off you at the time - Sarissa cut me a sample about a year ago.  I've just tried it and it looks okay so I've asked them for a quote for enough to do the rooms.

thanks

Some more figures this time.

Wizard

Skeletons

Mummies

And the first test Bones figure I painted to see how the paint went on:

Stone Golem.

I've ordered some more dungeon flooring from Ainsty and inquired with Sarissa about getting the rooms cut from MDF.

Mike, if you're considering going MDF cut rooms...4Ground is releasing a dungeon line at sometime in the future (they haven't said precisely when).

I like the Stone Golem - not the wizard (never liked that figure!)  :P Keep up the great work!

As a self-professed absolute 4Ground whore, I'm sure it will be quite good (pre-painted too!).  For me, I have a ton of DF stuff so I'll be hard pressed to go in another direction.  I do hope though they release some awesome dungeon "stuff".  They're releasing some beautiful furniture for some of their other lines, so here's hoping they produce a lot of goodies for filling the dungeon.

I agree with you about the Wizard figure - doesn't really shout Wizard to me at all.  Paintjob didn't come out that well either...  I've dug out a Bones Wizard to paint up as a repalcement and see if that works better.

I am going to go with Sarissa for the floors as they will custom cut 6mm MDF to match the Ainsty walls so it all ties together.

a 4Ground Dungeon sounds interesting  - I haven't seen a decent laser-cut dungeon system yet.  Most of them look too flat or just dull.

Coming together very nicely Mike. I would very much recommend painting the rooms in the appropriate colours.
(The beginnings of my project are here: http://s321.photobucket.com/user/robh/library/Fantasy%20Dungeon?sort=4&page=1  Made from Hirst casts bought from Markie Mark to match the Itar style/sizes.)

There are some great threads on the Hirst Arts forum about Heroquest boards in 3D, and how to solve the "wall thickness" issue and the pro/con of building the stepped floors present in some rooms.  Plus some lovely eye candy.

Had chance this weekend to finish off a couple of figures - had hoped to do more but it didn't work out.

First test paint of a goblin

First test paint of an Orc.
