Same, only just started using tufts...but just a glance I decided to use my go-to glue, Elmers woodglue max. (basically heavier/stronger PVA glue).

Superglue here too.  But I also superglue my sand and gravel groundwork on all bases including terrain.  I hate things falling off.  Sorry to hear about the tuft hassle.
Snitchy sends.

Never had anything escape the clutches of PVA on a base, except for when I needed it to.

The advantage to PVA is that if you ever need to rebase then it's a simple matter of sliding a craft knife between the base and the sand/PVA/flock  and lifting it off.

I always use superglue on tufts because i never trust the glue that comes with the army painter ones. Shame to hear that you've got to start again with them tho, A massive inconvenience!

Yes, I'd say it is common practice and sense.

It is so commonplace I thought to use PVA or superglue I didn't even know the tufts had their own stickiness on the bottom.

I always use a drab of glue. Our stuff gets handled so much there's no reason to take a chance.
