(COMMERCIAL) Alternative to Ebay

I don't know if you guys are aware of a new auction site for selling and buying mini's and gaming supplies. There is a new site called Miniature Bids and it's just opened.  It just opened and there are some great deals to be had right now. If you're interested, give it a look

So far - unimpressed .  Searched for "15mm" and "15 mm" 'found' lots of GW products from LOTR thru Warhammer Fantasy through 1/72nd union troops.

I will keep looking but I hold no illusions about what I will find.

Sorry to sound negative but it was the finding stuff that wasn't particularly close that turned me off.

Edit:  Good news,  :)  playing with the refine search helped but... bad news,  :( not a lot to draw my interest since I don't use GW products.  Surprised (pleasantly) to see 1/600th aircraft though.   8)

Still not enough to hold my interest as a buyer and I don't feel adventurous enough to be a "Beta tester"  ;) seller.

Thanks for the pointer, maybe after it matures and grows?

Gracias,

Glenn

These auction sites need time and numbers to grow and gather good trading reputations. The trouble is, without them, fewer people will trust them enough to shop there. Catch 22 for a while there.

Have been visiting the website for a while now and must say why would anybody want to post their goods there as it seems that not very much people are using or bidding on the website (no bidding wars as on ebay = low prices or no sales). The current number of actions is only 75 mostly GW. What do you think, I know it needs more time but how long has this website been running?

No ebay bidding wars, or no ebay shill bidding?  ::)  I haven't used it, but it seems like a smaller site like that would be better for buyers than sellers.  If there is not a lot of action on the site, I would probably only sell stuff at a fixed price rather than auction.

Also, I am not sure how much traffic it will generate if its only directed at selling miniatures.  Time will tell, I guess...

Yes, we are not a large demographic.

Even managed to miss that bit, thought they were UK based  :? True about the small demographics and the lack of other content but they also seem to have a website with reviews (something with gaming central, I thought) and the like. Interesting points I hadn't thought of. Cheers

And when you consider that ebay has a wargaming and miniatures category already it makes this site slightly more redundant. It's a nice concept but unless it becomes the go to place for rare or out of production miniatures i don't see it taking off, and ebay mostly has that covered for those who are on the look out.

 lol

Unfortunately for me, since I am in the USA, there was nothing then (and still nothing) that even vaguely enticed my money.

Concerned that they will never will.

Gracias,

Glenn
