How Do You Glue Perry Plastics?
« on: October 02, 2013, 05:37:39 AM »
I have just assembaled a bunch of Perry Plastic Zouaves. I used the same Testors plastic cement I used on my Wargames zombies. But my zouaves don't seem to be sticking together as well. What else do people use for gluing Perry Plastics?

Dichloromethane with a brush from a vinyl dispenser.

The size of brush depends on what I'm sticking. It's also good for brushing out small mould lines and swarm from scalpel shaving.

I use bog standard Humbrol tube cement and find that if you apply it to both surfaces it works just fine, failing that a flame-thrower :D

Seriously though, it should work just fine and if you find that you've glued the part at the wrong angle (of which I'm often guilty) then a bit of firm pressure at the join with a scalpel blade and the part will often just pop off.

I just use superglue. It's easy and I use it for everything.

Good old yellow and blue revell for me too, did you wash the sprues?, they might of been greasy and messed the glue up a little

Revell Contacta for me too. Very fast to melt the plastic and create a fusion on even the most tenuous joints -like replacement polearm heads stuck onto hafts. Within a few minutes you can adjust the position to your satisfaction, with zero danger of the bond being broken. And once it sets hard, it's like your two components were moulded from one piece of plastic. Highly recommended.
