Buildings - Specific or Generic?
« on: October 06, 2013, 05:32:58 PM »
All,
So I've got an assorted of figures on the way to flesh out my Western figures and make them a bit more cosmopolitan.  I have a Western Town, but I definitely want to do "City" buildings.  Are most of you doing generic  Brownstone type rowhouses, or are you doing specific structures like Museums, Libraries, Town Halls etc? I'm actually going to base my architecture on my hometown of Philadelphia, but circa 1895.

I'm currently making some buildings for my Pulp adventures, and I came to the conclussion that most buildings must have several functions.

For example:

A shop -just changing the sign- can sell any good needed for the current adventure.

An "official" looking building, can be used as museum, townhall, bank, etc.

A factory can produce anything you need for the game, etc.

So I try to make "generic" buidings that can accomodate pretty much anything my thiny men need for their adventures.

I'm thinking to make magnetized signs to easily change the places names.

Hope that helps.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Generic by and large as most of the buildings we have used so far have been a mix of things we have built for Old West or pulp and our games have been more North American oriented.
