Some D&D repainted (or painted) minis
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:24:19 PM »
HI,

Since I broke pics links on my old topic,  I repost some saved pics of my D&D minis paints from D&D recent games : Wrath of Ashardalon, Ravenloft, Dungeon COmmand.

These minis are dedicated to my solo light rpg project, for NPC grunts and villains. The paint is a mix of speed painting and classic tabletop. I would say that I prefer to paint my heroes (see my old school adventurers topic) than my villains and grunts, so I try to find a good balance between speed and overall result.

Ravenloft Villains :

Dungeon Command Drows warband (work in progress, still 4 minis to paint) :

I'll post new pics soon.

Thanks ! Definitly some of my favourtie "evil" fantasy minis, it's why I took a little bit more care on painting them.

Seeing the pics myself, I decided tonight to repaint the drow female dagger in a more conventional metal color. Now it looks like a weapon, and not a lollypop anymore  lol I completly missed the effect (some kind of amber magic weapon)  ;D

Great job!  I like the female werewolf and the flesh golum

Your FINE brushwork definitely allowed the minis to realize their full potential...the Howling Sorceress is SO-COOL! GREAT WORK!

Thanks !

I think that D&D minis is one of the most underestimated gaming minis range. A lot of them looks really nice once painted.

Some prepainted models just needs a few tweaks for a nice tabletop result too. I've got a goblins dungeon command box (12 minis), they are already OK prepainted, and will be nice once detailed.

Very nice. Do you paint strip them first?

The Ravenloft villains came unpainted, but the Drows band and monsters came prepainted. I stripped the paint down, but I regret it now. The very thin drows minis lost a bit of details in the process, and now painting them take too long for simple grunts/minor NPCs. A few details additions would have been suficient, in my opinion.

On next prepainted D&D minis I have, I'll just go for some details, but keep the prepaint on them. It's particularly true for the globins warband box. These minis are alread pretty nice, for prepainted minis.

These are great. I agree that the DnD prepaints have some real gems in the line.

Really nice stuff! I also concur that the D&D pre-painted minis have some great figs in their numerous lines of figures.
