Ideas on painting an impervious suit please?
« on: May 23, 2008, 09:14:46 AM »
Thundechicken and I have just purchased a number of Eureka Impervious suits to assist the British in repelling the Prussian menace. :)

Now we are having trouble coming up with a suitable colour scheme. :?

Sir Henry Bullshott has given  his a splendid red and blue paint job to match his regular British troops.

I would like to try something different. One option is to paint them basic metallic colours with lots of mud and rust or even Blue/Grey to match the artillery.

So chaps, its over to you for any valuable suggestions?

Do you think you could provide a smaller pic, mate? I can almost see some details there.  :)

Battleship grey (with a dazzle scheme and White Ensign added to taste) perhaps.

Is he padded up ready to go to the crease? Looks like it. Maybe a Cricket whites-themed colour scheme is in order?

Polished Brass and Bronze? That's always a good fall-back for VSF.

Now that sounds good.

Either that or Royal Artillery colours (Whatever they might be. Blue jackets, was it? I am embarrassed by my lack of knowledge.)

I don't know.

First the pics people post are too big, then they're too small. lol lol

Some folks are never satisfied!    ;)

Have to agree, though, Malamute's pic is a little small - unless it's 1/1 scale 28mm pic of the Top Secret Chimpanzee Infiltration suits.

I'd say paint them to match your Landships etc.

I  ike the idea of the Dazzle/battleship grey unifomr. Thought I think that the crickey pads should be white and possibly old schools or regimental tie and white collar on the chest pieces ;D

lol  Much better. I recognize him, now!

I love those cricket-pad greaves  :)

How about painting them in cricket whites?

How about dirty copper metallic torso and arms with oily blueish steel legs? It would be a pity to completely abandon the English red coat thing, thinks I.

I really like the "Red-Coat" colour scheme, it just seems "right" to fit in with the Brits.
If you've got a few it would be cool to have some detailing to the uniform scheme, like rank insignia, sashes etc.

Red or khaki, but it just wouldn't be cricket without white pads...what! what!

Nick & Neil
The suits you saw were the 'officer' suit (with lions on the shoulders and chest). I painted these as red and blue with brass lions to complement the home service unifirms of my troops.

For 'campaign' suits I have gone for battlship grey (GW Codex Grey) with Union jack patches on the shoulders - this compliments the grey colouring of my British vehicles.

Another alternative might be Rifle Green for suits manned by the Rifles.

Nickinsomerset painted his in red and blue with white 'cricket pads'.

British Racing Green with golden trim, I say! ;)

Either that (as previously suggested by Bullshot as Rifle Green), or the red and blue.

Gad sir!  The RSM would never allow a dirty suit to engage the enemy!

Brightly polished, if you please.

They'd probably be manned by the Royal Engineers so high gloss scarlet torso and blue legs with a red stripe.  All fittings in highly polished brass or steel.
