Using Copplestone BoB Russians for Winter War 1939?
« on: October 13, 2013, 07:59:16 AM »
With the Kickstarter finished I have to plan my Russian invasion. Since I have a big pile of Copplestone Russians in greatcoat I wonder if they could be used, maybe with some modification/headswap, as 1939 Russians? I would be grateful for any comments  :)

Yes, mainly headswaps, since the M91 looks the same as the M91/30 in 28mm convention

I don't know about leather belts and stuff, but I think with the soviet shortage economy this should be treated with latitude  :)
without much special knowledge, I would argue "yes"; with even all the fur hats

These figures may well be used. But they should have a cloth helmet "Budenovka" or steel helmet.

If you alter the figure to a minimum - just add a gas mask bag.
If you want - you can do a full set of equipment: a backpack, entrenching tool, flask.

The photo is even more heat insulated version uniforms - felt boots (felt boots), fur mittens, knitted balaclava for helmets.

Excellent!

Thanks both for your comments. Regarding helmets, would the Adrian type helmet still be used 1939?

If you need extra equipment like gasmask bags, entrenching tools etc, the Wargames factory plastics box has dozens of them. Helmets are all, alas the SSh-40, which postdates the Winter War.

I have not seen in the photo of the Finnish War Russian soldiers in helmets Adrian. Although these helmets continued limited use in the Red Army.

The most common was a steel helmet "СШ-36". It is, in my opinion, easier to do from the German helmet.

I have a lot of 1/35 coalscuttles, which could be large enough to be ground down to soviet Ssh-36 if You need
