Now this brings up the interesting topic of wargames buildings and scale and usually never the two shall meet  lol

I do find it intriguing that wargamers in general are more than happy to forego the reality of scale for appearances, which I can appreciate for the most part and I know it's not always practical to have true scale buildings on the table top.

I almost had a proper ramble then but that's better suited for a General topic  ;)

Yeah it's an interesting topic.

The post apoc game requires accessible interiors and the WotR doesn't, which explains some of the differences. Also the Perry figures are slighter.
My LAF Gallery is HERE

But the figures are still '28mm' and I'm assuming based on the same bases?

The access thing is a good point but looking at Seņor Malamutes work, not always necessary to have larger scale buildings.

Anyway, back on topic...

Are you going for the same stone effect as on the church (apologies if I've missed it)?

cheers

Yep, will be flint and mortar effect, just like the church.  It will have a tiled roof though, with one of those new-fangled chimneys.

Lunchtime update

Farmhouse groundworks now done

Lower reaches are made with epoxy repair putty for a firm but reasonably crisp edge.

Though I should explain that it is not a moat in the order of Bodiam!

It's more of a water-filled ditch to impede access to the flank of the main building.  I think I shall consider it waist deep so too deep to properly fight in but not to deep to cross with penalty.

As for this statement:

The access thing is a good point but looking at Seņor Malamutes work, not always necessary to have larger scale buildings.

That is because he makes them in scale with himself at 28mm.

Mexican hobbit hole, anyone?

While the buildings and walls will be flint and mortar, I think the chimney will represent a later addition and so will be in brick.

The house will be tiled but I can't make up my mind about the outbuilding - thatched or tiled?

The white stuff in the moat is a thin layer of water resistant wood glue, to level off and provide a smooth surface for painting before the top costs of gloss varnish are applied.

Looking good. I suggest that the outbuilding is tiled. One wouldn't want it to burn easily when the guest come 'round.

The outbuilding will get a tiled roof  ;)

Not much to show for this morning as have been mostly working on the other project.

I started to work on the chimney placement, including shoring up the  inside from where it will project.

I also tidied up the mill, which has gained a canopy at the front

All are now ready for timber framing, roofing and wall textures, which I hope to complete tomorrow.
