You go to some odd clubs bugs...  ;D

Nice figures though, would like to see them with your paintwork on them too.  ;)

So anyhoo, here's that Indian that I'm now able to show you, plus a couple of others. They're the 'Poster Boys' for new the DMH boxed sets - Indians, US Cavalry and Pinkertons.

Lovely work as usual Cubs. You've made that Pinkerton look a lot better than the other shots I've seen of him.  :)

Cheers Ray, funny enough he's my favourite model of the lot. The pose is so understated, the model so relaxed yet threatening ... it just seems a lot classier than the ones waving guns around. Don't talk to me about putting pinstripes on his trousers though ... oy ... what a grind ...

Blimey cubs, they are beautiful! How on earth did you paint the feathers and the badge so well? ???

Cheers

Thanks Bertie, the feathers are mostly about inks really, on top of a cream base. The badge is simple too, just inks to show shade and white highlights for shine on a brass base. The more I paint NMM effects the more I rely on minimal shades for the reflective effect - ie. a base colour, with ink/wash for shade and a white (or white mix) for shine. Too many gradual layers and it doesn't look shiny enough.

You make it sound so easy cubs, not mentioning your vast practice and skill. ;)

Thanks though, I may need to give it a go! :D

Cheers

Well, I didn't think it would be too useful to say, "Go backs thirty years, start painting ... keep painting ..."

In all honesty, it's just about having a go. Look at a photo of something like what you're painting (I did just that with the feathers (all right, it was paintings more than photos) and the badge) and just try to replicate the main pattern or light effects. Some bits will go right, some bits will go wrong, but over time you'll find ways to improve on the right bits and turn around the wrong.
