So I had a Spare hour today and was able to prime both my Germans and my British

I used Vallejo grey surface primer straight through my airbrush, I use grey as I find its the best medium colour and I know there are other colours but I always put a thin coat of this down as its always works for me.

So the next thing I need to look at is how to base mortar teams and field artillery?
Iv been thinking that the FOW bases would be fine to use as this will allow me to use some of the sculpted bases and that would add some great detail to each force but then Iv been thinking that I could use some of the renedra bases I have sat about and take the time to sculpt each base so that each model could be removable? This would help to show casualties ect and keep track of any - modifiers such teams or weapon might suffer with the loss of crew members?

I also want to try todo something different for pinned markers? These are very useful and warlord do a nice set but they look to big next to the 15mm??

If anyone has any thoughts on this please do share them

you could get some dead figures and stick them on pennys and have a number (eg 1 to 10) on it to show the pins.
This would not stick out on the wargames table.
or
warbases do plastic markers to your requirement.

I like the sound of dead soliders as pining markers

Peter Pig do sets of markers, their pinned ones are a row of bullet splashes. They also have some excellent casualty & surrendering figures.

There's of course the bailed tank crew; some of them are usefu for injured infantry (for the Germans at least).

This is a great idea as I think the British do bailed out tank crews :)

15 mm for BA looks like a more than appropriate scale. I will follow the painting process!

Well Iv just solved the pinning marker idea and with abit of advice from my friend Len Iv decided to make some crater/blast markers using 1p and a small amount of putty, just need to get my head back into sculpting.

So stay tuned for further updates

So I had a Sapir 20 minutes before and was able to put the first bit of colour onto my Germans

As these will just be standard troops Iv decided to paint them using basic colours and opted for Vallejo German field grey.
I used my airbrush to save time and as its the biggest colour, the mix I use is 1:1 paint and water roughly depending on the paint.
The other colours I will apply with a brush

I started doing Bolt Action in 28mm but the local club has decided on the 15mm route so I've ordered the bits for my early war Germans :) Will be following this thread for ideas to pinch ;)

I wasn't happy with the German field grey as it was abit too dark so I lightened the surface areas if the uniform with a 1:1 mix of German field grey and green grey and I'm happy now with the colour

And used a basic flesh base for the hands and faces

I'm sorry it's slow progress but I currently have schingels so abit off my gaming/ painting mojo

Had my figures through. Cleaned up and based but I use Galeria Heavy Carvable Modelling Paste to build up the bases. Its very similar to GW's liquid green stuff but a lot cheaper (around £7 for a big tub).

Looking good, see you have gone for the 2p option for team weapons too. I still can't decide how to base my mortars and HMG teams :(
