Painting and Putting together Wargames Factory Samurai/Ashigaru
« on: October 24, 2013, 12:35:35 PM »
Hello everyone

I am starting a Samurai / Sengoku Japan army to play as a Kingdoms of Men army in Mantics: Kings of War and I am using the Wargames Factory: Rising Sun line as the bulk of my models due to how cheap they are they are however a bit of a nightmare to put together and like all Samurai minis not the easiest to paint.

There are a few great guides in this forum already for painting Samurai minis but are there any specifically for WGF Samurai and Ashigaru?

I am also mixing in some Perry and Assault group miniatures for some of the troop front ranks, generals and monks.

Are there any other minis you recommend that would look good alongside these three manufacturers? It seems way to many places selling Samurai Mini's do not provide pictures.

Hi I have no experiance putting those together, but I hear to get them to look natural will require modelling skills.

Re other figs you could try my range of large 28mm they are bigger but mostly commanders and characters which can look good a little bigger.

And I have a painting guide on my blog

May be of use

I saw these the other day and they look fantastic. I will certainly pick a few up when I have the money (and have painted the stuff I have already)

Its a shame you don't have any with a Monk style headwrap. I want a decent model to be Uesugi Kenshin as my commander.

That painting blog is really helpful, thank you.

Thanks no worries, I think kensei do a mounted warrior with a monks headwear, also one of the perry pack have one, but when I make Kenshin he will have a kabuto on likely.

So closer to this? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2f/Uesugi_Kenshin.jpg

Its clear there and in both photos infact the headwear is a little different to a standard monks headwear. I cant quite tell what it is though.

Ill will gladly buy any Uesugi models you make no matter what the headwear.

Thank you. I am not sure how it scales  with 28mm models but it looks great so I may get it just to paint it. When I can afford it that is.
