Years ago, I saw a movie that looked like it had been made in the 80's or 90's, one which takes place in an Eastern European country, possibly Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia or Poland, shortly after WWII.
The story centres around a small town in general and a group of young school kids specifically, and their teacher a man with an eyepatch who claims to have been a daredevil veteran hero (a partisan maybe?) and tells them all sorts of war stories. The fall of the iron curtain is a common background theme with members of the village talking about voting for the communists versus other groups here and there.
Does anyone have even the faintest clue as to what I'm talking about?
