Deep Below
« on: November 04, 2013, 04:25:07 PM »
Here's some shoots of a personal dungeon crawl game project.
I'm on the way to build my own prototype...

Here's some of the minis I've sculpted for the game....

Skeleton Warrior

Barbarian, the first of three heroes

Goblin:

Giant Spider:

Here's a preview of the game board: it's composed by four parts.
Every part is A4 size.

Looks like it will be an impressive game with great sculpts and a nice board.  Is it 15mm or 28mm?   :)

Good miniatures, I like how the skeleton warrior is clothed for a change and not just some naked bone guy :D

Also, cool dungeon boards. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep them square so they can be turned in any direction? :)
Maybe the walls could be a little bit thicker, it's a dungeon after all, and if I were doing it I'd put no doorways onto the floorplans, but just use standup doors so I can decide freely were to put tem... I love customization ;)Those are just my suggestions though :)

For inspiration, you could take a look at Rackham's Hybrid and Hybrid: Nemesis games, they have some of the best floorplans (if you need an ancient cloning lab, at least ;) )

28/32mm for human size. The goblin is 20mm with a little base of 20mm....the girl is about 32mm, the spider has a base of 37mm, it's bigger than Descent or D&D prepainted spiders....

I was undecided whether to put the openings or not.
The choice of openings doors is connected primarily to the type of quest.
Before moving to the next board, the heroes must first explore all the area in which they are located.
I am also for the maximum modularity: the first version saw 16 cards-rooms of 4x4 tiles.
The choice of a wider board was dictated by the need to make more accessible an hypothetical release of the game.

---------------------------------------------------------

Here's some shoots of the dungeon-cards: they're the very core of the game:

This is only the prototype version...printed to a medium resolution upon simple paper.

I like all-in-one projects like this! If you buy a pack of card sleeves you can easily store your cards, and even put front-and backside images into the sleeve. Fantasy Flight Games has all kinds of different colors as well as clear ones, good for differentiating between card types without the need for backside images.

I made a couple of combat cards for D&D 4E Dark Sun a while ago:

Another tip: Get a roll of clear adhesive sheet, the kind that is used for protecting books. You can stick it to any kind of surface and not only does it protect, you can also use markers to write on it. (I used it for the character cards seen above). I could imagine it for the dungeon tiles to mark things directly on the board during play... Or you could just use markers ;)

The cards in the picture have the card sleeves....You do not see too well, sorry for the bad picture  :(
I used different card sleeves...The back of the crd sleeve also has fantasy drawings...

Yes, I will use some tiles suitable for rough terrain or special details of the rooms...4 or 5 different types.

Looks pretty cool!  I suspect you can expand the dungeon by simply printing more sheets, which is nice.

The dungeon will be exoanded with additional rooms: two special (quest) rooms,  an entrance stairway* and an exit room.

*Where every dungeon level begin.
The style it's a tribute to the vintage Heroquest. I think it's very similiar to the Heroquest gameboard.
Every square it's 1".

A try for the new tiles....
This is the first of 14 or 16  tiles
Maybe this will replace the old tiles posted some day ago.

The squares will be added soon...

I'd advise having a look at the old end board game as well. It features square boards which are double sided which gives you even more flexibility and possible quests.

I like what you have done so far, really good stuff. 8)

They look very good, but wouldn't it make more sense if the tiles are square so they can be used in any configuration?

Those tiles remind me irresistibly of a fun old game called The Sorcerer's Cave
