15mm European Buildings?
« on: November 05, 2013, 09:22:32 AM »
Having just started in 15mm WWII, what Recomendations can people give me for buildings? I'm not keen on the 4Ground ones but it would be handy to be able to place figures inside any of the buildings. Many thanks in advance :)

If you're not going down the laser-cut/MDF route, but want to be able to place your figures inside, then the Battlefront ones are your best bet. They are expensive, but are ready to game with.

There is plenty of choice in the non-removable roof type (and cheaper). The other option is doing it yourself, plenty of good tutorials here and elsewhere online.

Also worth a look is www.kerrandking.co.uk
They have 2 city in a box deals..one called Lingevres and the other called Les Varrieres.
There are 5 buildings in each range costing £45 for all 5 and they come unpainted and with removable roofs.
I have Lingevres and can recommend highly.
There are many other options inc. walls and objectives so take a look
Hope this helps
Cheers

I do like the look of the Peter Pig buildings but don't have any yet so was not sure if you could put figures inside.

I like the look of these at Decor in France - personally prefer damaged buildings (I use 15mm buildings with 20mm figures, to reduce their footprint on the table)
keep meaning to sort out an order.

You could scratch build your terrain.  A current project of mine is building Eastern Front 15mm buildings for World War 2.  I'm making them out of cardboard from cereal boxes, straw from an old window blind, and white glue.

I used JR Miniatures buildings and a pet shop ruins piece with my own scratch build ones for my 15mm Italian WW2 terrain.  The scratch build buildings are simply blocks of wood I sawed from scrap wood I bought from a local lumberyard with plastic card tile texture glued for the roofs.  My advice for new players planning on expanding their terrain is to think of the entire table and how it will come together.  Focusing on a single piece can be fun, but also overwhelming when you think of the entire table.  Keep it simple, and keep it fun.  Then you can expand from there.

Sarissa Precision do 15mm.  They are very easy to build and you can paint any colour you want too.  They are very easy to paint too.

Peter Pig's buldings are great but alas are solid, as are the equally nice range from Timecast.
