nice work I live those minis

nice work I live those minis

Thanks :) They really are good miniatures.
I wish there was more of this type of chaos around, honestly. Its nice when getting a mutation might not actually be that nice. Or at least, that suits the tone of the kind of setting I want to represent in my games. I imagine it'd kinda suck being the snail guy, for example.

Luckily I have two more of these comming up in the paint que, but I'll just do a quick break to add something more "muscly" to the warband first.

OUTSTANDING! The terrain adds that something special to your already BEAUTIFULLY painted creations. VERY WELL DONE one & all!

Yesterday I managed to finish the core of a new warband - Primarily intended for SoBH.

The warband consists of a heroic knight, his retainers and companions.

The idea is to now go and paint some specialists to expand on the core, and allow for different configurations.

The miniatures are a mix of Perry Agincourt french, Fireforge sergeants and a single old citadel wood elf.
I wanted the elf to be more of a noble or high-elf - I imagine him hanging around court being smug - so I went for a bright magenta rather than the usual drab greens and browns.

That is some stunning brushwork. You sure know how to stay within the lines.

That's a great-looking warband. The heraldry, with its subtle variations and battle worn look, is terrific - and that barber's-pole spear is a really nice touch!

Thanks :) I'm very happy with how they came out myself as well, even if they are a bit more "loose" than some of my other stuff.

I'm really enjoying the opportunity heraldry gives for playing around with patterns and colours.

They had their first outting tonight, a game of ASoBH, which of course ended with them all massacred or running away  ::) That is the curse of new models, I guess.

I agree, you have some beatiful paint schemes on your band. I'm really wishing to see more members on it.

Oof, been a while since I last posted something here.

well, I'll keep the waffle short and get to the paintjob:

The miniature is a Harpy from the boardgame Arcadia Quest. I've gotten extremely enamoured with the stylisation of these miniatures, and it turned out to be just as fun as I imagined it to be to paint. Nice large surface areas where you can really work the paint, and nice large eyes. And I love painting eyes !

I've not quite decided on what to do with the bases yet, so for now I've just left it black.

The miniature will be used for, apart from the boardgame, a new format of Open Combat I want to start playtesting. The gist of it is that you have only 3 characters, with extremely limited options, duking it out over a mini-table around 8"x8" in size.
I build a 6"x6" board for it, but it turned out to be just too small. It barely fit the miniatures  lol

Thanks :) It's nice to sometimes just do something completely different.

I decided to build a new "table" (Board?) in a bigger size - 8"x8". This seems a lot more suitable:

Its still "tight", but as can be seen, its not completely crowded. I think it'll hold 2 sides of 3 just fine. Now I just need to get those two sides painted  lol

I also finished this witch yesterday. Another very fun paint, though I ended up spending way longer on it than I was planning to. I tried to keep tabs on my value and hue contrasts a lot more this time, which I think really payed off.

Apart from that, I'm also building various small terrain pieces for my small table. Starting with 3 2½" sections of fence:

Next thing is some hazards and getting more miniatures painted. 4 more until the setup is game-ready!

the thread lives!

Coasting on a huge wave of hobby energy, Im painting up some more characters for the skirmish game Im writing. And so it was time to revive this thread.
More on the game later, for now an inexperienced adventurer finds himself in a spot of trouble!

A mordheim Youngblood - I love most of the mordheim miniatures, and only wish i owned a few more of them. Oh well. This guys friend is gonna get some paint soon to.
I've always thought these sculpts were just crying out for a round base, and I'm glad to have finally realized that vision.
